Romani deck- scary ace of swords

I didn't know whether to post this here or in Using Tarot Cards, but this is particularly about the Ace of Swords in the Buckland Romani Tarot.
It's one of my favorite decks, especially for doing my own personal work with, but lately I've been pulling this card a lot.
It's so foreboding! Wintry and severe. It looks more like death and endings than new beginnings. There is the tree trunk, like a mighty oak that has been felled by a little knife? It makes me think of the expression "the pen is mightier than the sword."
The skies are dark, it looks like a storm is approaching and the gypsies are leaving, looking for shelter perhaps.
Does anyone have any insight on this card?

I recently drew this card a few times and it seemed to indicate that my situation was going to require some extra alertness; that it had some emotional undertones that I needed to look out for. Practically, it worked out to mean that I needed to choose my words carefully; that I needed to speak clearly, but also sensitively so as to avoid either confusion or hurt feelings. Hope that helps:-)

well my opinion is that this cards DOES speak of mental clarity, and energy surrounding alertness. new beginnings ..... in the sense of a new idea, thought, or way of thinking.

I don't really have anything to add about the interpretation on the ace of swords. I just wanted to say that this is an absolutely gorgeous deck! And I'm surprised I've never seen this deck before. Shoot - now I have to add this one to my ever expanding wish list!
