i was wondering - whenever i pull myself a card (or occassionally do a spread) - i get the fool. this has been going on for about 6 months. i was telling my friend about this while shuffling my cards on my lap - i cut them and got the fool. "see" i said, i will always draw the fool, and i did it again, getting the fool - she thought it was magic - haha.
this is good as it means i am in tune with my cards. but is the fool advice for me, a person or what? i wonder. i am quite like him, but not completley - not enough for him to be 'me'.
this is a kind of goal in life and my philosophy - taking each day as it comes, being a true individual etc - but many other cards speak to me the same. - and do not turn up all the time!
so i am wondering what your experiences are of the meaning behind always getting the same card - and what you make of this.

With my Universal Waite deck, I had the Hermit show up for each and every single card draw I did for nearly 5 months. I didn't pick daily, but I did pick about once a week or so.
Neither did I think the card was "me". It was, however, reading like a message from my deck for me to set it aside and quit reading with it for a while. So I did.
One day, after a few weeks had passed, I pulled a draw again. The three of cups. Ready to commune again, :).
I don't know that this is at all helpful, Littlewing, but your experience reminded me of it.

I think that sometimes if we are in a particular stage in life or our life is focussed on one particular thing for a while, getting the same card all the time is very normal. I had a friend who continually drew the Death card, and started panicking at first until we sat down to examine what was going on in his life after about a month of him panicking... Turns out he was going through some major (VERY major) changes and just needed to learn to accept them. Once he did that, the Death card just disappeared for a while and he got different cards when he drew from the deck.
I think sometimes when we get the same card over and over it's a message of some sort telling us to open our eyes and see what's right in front of us. In the above case, the message was, 'Oh for goodness sake, change is happening. Get over it.' In Alissa's case it was 'Hey, leave me the hell alone!!!' ;)
And even if it is pure coincidence (Which is something peopel may say), it still helps us be reminded of what we need to do. The Empress, when I was at the beginning of my relationship with my boyfriend, continually showed up in readings and daily draws. It wasn't really a message, but every time I saw it, I would remember 'Contraception'... Many a day that card showed up and I quickly ran to my dressing table to where th econtraceptive pill lay...
So, depending on how you see the Tarot as, it could be the cards tryting to give you a message, (Or God, whatever) or it could be just a random occurance revolving around bad shuffling, but which still hits something in your mind.

I agree whole heartedly with Kiama. When a card keeps coming up for you, then it's representing a message that has to do with your stage of life at this time. Research out what the fool means to you, and see what his message is. Once you've moved past this stage in your life, you will draw other cards.
