tarot and numerology REVISITED---help

if you hav'nt seen the numerological/astrological/elemental correspondences in the sticky, i suggest you browse over it for a better understanding - this site is also helpful: http://www.astrology-numerology.com/
****************************************************

and here it goes...

ever since i learned the numerological/astrological/elemental correspondences of tarot here in the forums (and a bit personal research), i've been actively using them in my readings (actually, more on gauging the querents personality). I have experienced in several occasions that soul/personality/teacher/year cards, astrological/elemental correspondences, in a way, shows how likely a person will react to a particular situation.

...taking myself as an example:

bday: 11/18/1976
soul and personality and year card: 7 - Chariot
teacher card: 16 - tower
astro sign: scorpio (death)~water~fixed~passive

A quickie description of me based on the above (and knowing myself): I know what i want and i know how to get it...fast (chariot); i hate sudden changes in plans i.e. a dinner date suddenly cancelled (tower); i have the least difficulties when it comes to letting go of something (death) except when the situation is of the heart...over my dead body!!! (water~fixed); most of the time, i have the least say over a decision-making issue...my wife is a dominatrix :joke: (passive)

Now for my big question...i just remembered yesterday a universal mathematical formula (reminiscing my college days):

AB-(A+B) = a number that is always divisible by 9

an example: 78-(7+8) = 63 (divide by 9 = 7)

The only thing that i can think of right now is that the hermit (number 9) plays a big role when it comes to the two digits of our bdays

...taking myself again as an example:

18-(1+8)=9 (divide by 9 = 1)

My interpretation of my birthday is that when i want to make things happen (magician-number 1) but will take significant patience and time (strength-number 8), i have to think twice about it (hermit-number 9) because my nature is to do things fast (soul card-chariot).

I will really appreciate it if any of you guys (especially the experts here in AT) have any other opinion

thanks in advance

Hi Jog118.

I always find a thread about numerology interesting but only know the very basics myself. I wonder if this thread might get a better response if it were relocated to Divination?

Jog, my numerological knowledge has gone as far as the Life Cards and learning the numerological associations for tarot. I also am beginning to understand more about the basic meanings of numbers.

Like you, I find that even this basic knowledge enhances my Tarot, and I'd like to know more. I had a look at the site you mentioned, and will go back to it over the week end to read your interpretation and see what. if anything, I can add.

It might be useful for you to get a good book at an estoteric shop. I've been using Numerology and the Divine Triangle by Javane and Bunker but there are other books which might be better.

Will speak with some others and get back to you!

whew! finally someone noticed my thread...

thanks moongold (actually i pm'd moongold to have pity on me and post a reply :) )

Moongold drew my attention to this thread and I'll try and add what I can.

Firstly a word of warning - I'm not really much more advanced than Moongold (if at all). Secondly, I don't think I could better your Tarot correspondences.

However at the level of Numerology there are a couple of observations. Your Life Path number is 25/7 - as you identify. Seven is a mystical number, The general reading for a 7 Life Path is along these lines:

You are the searcher and the seeker of the truth. You have a clear and compelling sense of yourself as a spiritual being. As a result, your life path is devoted to investigations into the unknown, and finding the answers to the mysteries of life.
You are well-equipped to handle your task. You possess a fine mind; you are an analytical thinker, capable of great concentration and theoretical insight. You enjoy research, and putting the pieces of an intellectual puzzle together. Once you have enough pieces in place, you are capable of highly creative insight and practical solutions to problems.
You enjoy your solitude and prefer to work alone. You need time to contemplate your ideas without the intrusion of other people's thoughts. As a result, close associations are difficult for you to form and keep, especially marriage. You need your space and privacy, which, when violated, can cause you great frustration and irritation.
When your life is balanced, however, you are both charming and attractive. You can be the life of a party, and enjoy performing before an audience. You enjoy displaying your wit and knowledge, which makes you attractive to others, especially the opposite sex.
But you have distinct limits. While you are generous in social situations, sharing your attention and energy freely, you are keenly aware of the need to "come off stage" and return to the solitude of your lair. You associate peace with the unobtrusive privacy of your world. Therefore, intimacy is difficult for you, because you guard your inner world like a mother lion does her cubs.
All this privacy can cause isolation and loneliness, You can be aware of emptiness in your life, a part of you that yearns for company and close companionship that may be unsatisfied.
You must especially watch out for selfishness and egocentricity, thinking of yourself as the center of the universe, the only person who really matters. Social contact gives you perspective on yourself and on life, while too much isolation can make you too narrow and even shut off from the rest of the world.
Your challenge in life is to maintain your independence without feeling isolated or ineffectual. You must hold fast to your unique view on the world, while at the same time being open to others and the knowledge they have to offer.
With your abilities to learn, analyse, seek out answers to life's important questions, you have the potential for enormous growth and success in life. By the time you reach middle age, you will radiate refinement and wisdom.

The breakdown of your birthday I'll put in the next post

Minderwiz  01 Aug 2003
Your Life Path number is the main contributor (about half) to your character reading. I can't give you an Expression Number reading because I don't have your full name.

However your Birthday Number is 18/9. The theme again is one of selfless humanitarianism. You have a humantic approach, wanting to help others. You have executive and organising ability and tend to be broadminded sympathetic and tolerant. Practical, rational, creative and imaginative. The sub emphases are on 1 (individuation) and 8 (material satisfaction) - so you do try to draw a distinction between yourself and others and you require some level of material satisfaction in life - you can't live the life of the Hermit, even if you feel drawn to it. Your challenge in the middle part of your life, which you are now entering, is to realise these potentials. To achieve a balance in your life between the spirituality which you bring with you and the material expression of it.

With a 7 Life Path number your Karmic number is 2 (9 - 7). You have the ability to live alone and you bring that with you into this life. Your challenge, or lesson for this life is to learn to co-operate and work with others - to relate and to learn the value of the group as well as the individual.

MINDERWIZ---YOU BLOW MY MIND!!!

thanks for the description---very, very, very accurate (especially on the "inner world" thing); i bet you're tarot correspondences are better than mine; very humble of you though

Minderwiz  01 Aug 2003
Thanks,

Glad to help.

Incidentally, just to help me cross check my interpretation - could you tell me what time you were born and where you were born.?

Moongold  01 Aug 2003
Minderwiz,

Out of intererest, where did you get the 25/7 from?

Using Javane, this is what I calculated for what she calls the Life Lesson:

11+18+1976
11+ 18+23

= 52/7

Many thanks.

Nothing to add…except (hey it’s me, what do you expect?)…especially since your birthday is so late in the calendar year, I would not base it upon the calendar year, but change it on your birthday.

Example. You’d still be a 6…until after your birthday – and be a 7 (chariot) next year.

Both methods are used, and both are considered correct…(which makes no sense to me).

I don’t believe that the calendar has much to do with things, and base life changes as being set to your own cycles (including your birth) and how they interact with the cycles of man (the calendar).

Minderwiz  01 Aug 2003
Moongold,

Using the US date system,

11 + (1 + 8) + (1 + 9 + 7 + 6)

The Month, Day and Year are separately reduced first

= 11 + 9 + 5 = 25

In this case I've treated '11' as a Master Number and not reduced it further.

In this process I'm following the procedures of Matthew Oliver Goodwin, but I've come across the same procedures used elsewhere.

The same result would follow if I used the European dd/mm/yyyy system.

jog1118  01 Aug 2003
minderwiz - i was born here in the Philippines (Asia-Pacific); sorry i can't find my birth certificate to check out the time i was born

moongold - i also use (11+18+1976=2005=7) in reducing my birthday to get my soul card

***Just to clarify my question***

I really appreciated everyones opinions re my post but what i really want to hear from you guys is re the formula i've mentioned:

AB-(A+B) = a number that is always divisible by 9

an example: 78-(7+8) = 63 (divide by 9 = 7)

Do you think the above signifies a deeper meaning besides what i've already mentioned in my first post...

thanks

Minderwiz  02 Aug 2003
I think it is the result, 9, rather than the formula per se that is important. There are other expressions which show the richness of 9, for example any number when multiplied by 9 produces digits whose sum is 9 (9 x 3 = 27; 2+7 =9)

Nine is the number of achievement and completion, apart from the Master Numbers (11, 22 and possibly other multiples of 11), 9 encompasses everything. Your life path Number shows the challenge that you must face in this lifetime - Dharma, in Vedic tradition. 9 - Life Path Number = your Karmic Number; in your case 2. This is what you bring with you from previous lives and gives some indication of the unfinished business that you have to attend to.

Your life is traditionally divided into three 27 year phases (27 also = 3 x 9). The first of these is your Development period and is symbolised by your Development Number; in the US this would be taken as your reduced month number, 2 (Master Numbers are not effective in this childhood to young adult phase).

The next phase is your Transition period, the period during which your life achievements are most likely to occur and the period during which you become aware of your own mortality and the limits of life. The Transition Number in the US would be your Birthday Number - 9

Finally comes your Resolution or Integration period. Where you ponder over your life and evaluate your achievements. Your Resolution Number is your Year Number 23/5 in your case.

Incidentally this shows why professional numerologists sum each component separately and then add up. The numbers of the three stages of life sum to the Life path number, just as the three stages together make the whole life.

I'm only at the starting point of Numerology but I hope that the above shows that it is 9 that is special, not particularly the method of obtaining it, your formula and the one I used at the start are aspects of the special nature of 9.

I am not an expert on this topic, I cannot offer much help, but there are a couple of questions, I would like to clarify with the general forum.

1) Birth dates do not prove anything at all.
2) Digits are discovered by Arabs.
3) All the greek philosophers bases their calculation on a totally different calender.

4) The only logical explanation saying that your birth date actualli matters is for the star sign determination, instead of numbers.

5) When u add 1 to 10, it will add up to 50, it is not magic, it is how this thing works. I think the book "Maths Magic" will actually reveal more magic, than numerology.

6) I know that the chinese has their own way of birth chart, which is way more complicated than than the add and combine.

7) I think people just ran out of things to tell their future or life path. get a grip man...

Sorrie for the harsh comments, but it seems to be the case...

My deepest apology to anyone affected.

Minderwiz  05 Aug 2003
ninewaters,

The points you make are valid issues and there is no need to apologise. As Rachel Pollack has pointed out, divination systems are not often rational and it is indeed because they are non-rational that they may work - they stimulate a leap of the subconscious mind.

I happen to be primarily an Astrologer and would therefore agree that Astrology is a superior method of diviniation, nevertheless Numerology can be traced back almost as far. In terms of divination therefore Numerology is an early comer not a late comer. Arguably it is as accurate as a modern form of divination such as consulting your psychiatrist or counselor.

Does the date system matter - it depends whether Numerology is entirely culture free or not. Personally my feeling is that it is culturally linked and therefore the prevailing cultural approach of expressing the date of birth should influence the reading. I also believe that Western Astrology works best in Western cultures and that in does not work as well in China or India. I cannot prove either of those.

However, just for consideration, taking your point about Greek Calendars and Arabic symbols (digits are fingers - the first means of counting). The Greeks did use a different calendar, they also used a different alphabet and a different symbols for numbers. The same is true of say, Hebrews or Chinese. Using the Western (arabic) numbers for Chinese dates is not really appropriate in Numerology - use Chinese symbols for numbers.

Umbrae recenty asked the same question about Jewish Calendars. The answer is that if the Calendar is important then use the appropriate symbols, not our Western ones. The same would be true of assigning numbers to letters - use the host alphabet and, as in Greek or Hebrew, use their own number/letter assignments.

Finally given a good reader, and I certainly am not a good reader, I suspect that a numerological analysis, tarot reading, astrological reading, or even colour therapy reading will point in the same direction - there may be differences in nuance but the overall thrust will be the same.
