I was reading Diviner Guy's thread question of using tarots to communicate with spirits but I haven't any experience of this.
But do you have tarots that did uncover hidden or unusual
connections for you? Sometime outside your normal experience that affected you? Almost magic or magical to you?
I had this experience when I first touched the Arthurian deck with the meditational Hallowquest scenes-this was about six years ago. The Sovereignty (Temperance) card and the coral pink dress impressed itself upon me...At one of those psychic fairs with some friends, a reader remarked about such scenes similar to my Arthurian tarot cards to me. She thought it was a past life. My first date with my husband had been the Rennaisance Fair and I had gone through the Hallowquest studies recently. I know I have a strong visual memory, which does color what other people pick up in readings...
I find that I read better with Asian tarots when I want comfort. To some tarots I feel a strong connection to certain colors, motifs and stories. For instance, the Leonardo affects me now since I'm experimenting with different studies...
I'm so curious, as many people seem to so many stories...and tarots that appeal to them.

I purchased my first tarot deck in Sept of 2001. It was the sacred circle tarot. I was tring to get into the habit of doing a three card reading once a day so on the night of Sept 10th I pulled out my deck which I kept in the box covered by crystals, before placing the cards in the box I would put them back in order by suit, so I was surprised to find some of the cards upsidedown and facing the wrong way - the first card on top of the deck was the devil card facing opposite the other cards and upside down...I looked at the card and thought "ugh" and preceeded to rearrange my deck, knowing that I hadn't left them in that state. The next day Sept 11 after the terrorist attack I checked my book for the meaning of the devil (underworld) reversed and it said something to the effect of using any means to get a point across etc...my tarot was trying to tell me something...and I was too inexperianced to get it at the time

...that on another list someone who had an old styled reproduction deck actually pulled a card that I remember being called "the Lightning Struck Tower" in the post. It was actually just a day before her road trip. It wasn't a celtic deck though, it was an Italian art deck.
If I remember it right, she was travelling along one of the highways that had views of the city at the time, as one of her college kids had a sports event. She was very shocked for it was the day of 9/11/01 and the aftermath was so unexpected.
Sometimes when familiar aspects of the allegorical images from our decks hit our eyes in real life--yes, I can see this becoming a real shock. I hope you have had other experiences with the Sacred Circle that was also enriching. I'm going through my collection this week and cleaning out, but keeping some celtic decks that are rich to me.
These stories above are far from my romantic memory of the Arthurian, but it reminds me why I cannot give my Arthurian away, even though I like to work with different style tarots now.
Thanks and looking forward to more sharing from people,
Mari H.
