Hi Paulo,
I think it depends on what deck it is. Some decks have no esoteric meanings at all. For example, The Fey Tarot doesn't.
In the Universal Rider Waite, there is esoteric meanings in all of the Majors. I can think of a few minor cards that don't. The 8 of Wands for example.

Hello Paulo,
Alot of decks have some esoteric systems in the cards, the most common ones being Astrology, numerology, and Kabbalah. However, I have also seen Runes, letters of the alphabet, colours, geometric shapes, and others I can't think of right now, attached to the cards.
:D

Tarot, as Tarot, is totally immersed, as far as I am concerned, in esoteric symbolism...
Some of the esoteric reflections from some of us on each of the cards is also discussed in each of the threads which primarily looks at the Marseilles deck. This Table of Contents may assist...

Paulo32, I agree with you!
Many of the wonderful discoveries one may make in the deck are, in my opinion, deeply transforming spiritually - and thus have very much an esoteric aspect.
The difficulty is in discussing what precisely is esoteric, for of course in discussing it, one is discussing its surface or exoteric aspect, albeit through its history or iconography.
For example, discussing the Crayfish/Lobster/Crab on XVIII the Moon leads one far beyond just saying that there is a Crustacean, but also begins discussions on that animal's biological and suggestive or mythological characteristics.
Other 'esoteric' aspects are really questions about how the cards have been used by various initiatic (or otherwise) groups, such as the Golden Dawn or the Kabbalistic Order of the Rose Cross. Alternatively, the converse may be discussed. For example, how various considerations from Freemasonry have metamorphosised into depictions in a specific deck (using the same example, the Masonic deck).
I find these various considerations highly important, and am always pleased to read what others either discover or exegete, for my part, especially with regards to the Marseille, which contains such wealth and depth.
Looking forward to contributing to these further considerations - of course, these, often, are quite deck specific, and some discussions has already occured in the various 'Study Groups' and in the Historical Forum.

Hello all
I have been away from summer holidays in Spain on Cadiz and i have return today.

I love it: sun, girls, drinks etc etc.
Of course i also travell around my country Portugal, that i know is full of mystery in somme places.
In fact there´s a place that i find, and i think is a especial place in portugal.
The name is "Quinta da regaleira" and this place have a well, not a well with water, but a initiatory well with no water, onlly steps, and a templar cross on the end of it.
Of course there is more mystery things in "Quinta da regaleira" to see and explore, more things that there are show in somme sites that i have fund on the net for all of you.
Things that you can compare, and discover with the esoteric meanings on the tarot cards.
Things to explore and to be fund in mystery, esoteric things...
