I've been having trouble with a certain card. X - The Wheel of Fortune. I just don't know what it means. I usually don't go by what other people think cards mean, or even the meanings in books. But this card just stumps me. It's basically the only card in the whole deck (other than the WHOLE Minor Arcana) that really, really stumps me. I would really love for some help.
Thanks.

Oh yes, also there is another card. XXI - The World. Again, what does it mean?
Other than the whole Minor Arcana, that's it.

wheel of fortune- like the game show???? JK, but really. The nature of the game is chance. One can be doing SO well, and then--EEK! everything is all gone with just a spin of the wheel.
there's a song 'the wheel' I always think of when I see this card....lalala...
.....in bits & pieces.....lala
the wheel is turning
and you can't slow it down
you can't let go
and you can't hold on
you can't go back
and you can't stand still
If the thunder don't get you
then the lightning will
small wheel turn by the fire and rod
big wheel turn by the grace of God
every time that wheel turn 'round
bound to cover just a little more ground
....
I read you're other post about questions, and the problems you are running into learning tarot. Try associations with the things in your everyday life....like give a sing to every card you can. Or when you read the meaning of a card as itself (not in reading) what has happened in your life that this card reminds you of. Go with emotion and feelings, both life experiences & music stir the emotions....something EVERYONE can relate to....

Other than the whole Minor Arcana, that's it. I think there is quite a lot to be said for getting one of the (generally aknowledged) better books on tarot card meanings e.g. Pollack or Greer. You can then get a firm grounding in the basic ideas usually associated with the cards. You can then build on these for yourself. No sense in reinventing the wheel? (sic) })
I look on the base technique of associating meaning with cards as a tree structure. Usually I only "remember" one or two things (sic) about any card (the start of the trunk?), and the rest (hopefully) branches out, along random(!) paths, from there. ;)

Think of the Wheel of Fortune like a Ferris Wheel. It goes up and down. This is about your personal life and the fact that it goes up and down. When the wheel appears, your life and luck are going to change. Usually, the Wheel signals an up-swing. Good luck, things coming your way, like spinning a roulette wheel and having your number come up. But whether up or down, it's out of your hands. You're seated on the ride and you can only go up and down with it. You'll fall (be demoted, be dumped by your mate, lose money) or rise (be promoted, get a new mate, win money).
See?
The World/Univese is like a Merry-go-round. Things stay level--but go round and round. You don't go up or down, but you do get to see, well, everything. You have a 360 degree perspective. Other folk, not on the Merry-go-round only see the area they're standing in. But you see all areas, every spot on the compass. This is why the Universe is the card of teachers--professonals with important degrees, or people about to get degrees--who know everything. And travelers, who've been everywhere, and can be at home anyplace. It's about finally accomplishing something big, something you've been working on for a long time. Finally, you come full circle.
Does that help?
