The Queen of Cups in the Physical?

Hi all,

I did a reading today, where I had five cards: Physical, Mental, Spiritual, and Emotional. I was slightly confused by the Queen of Cups who showed up in the Physical area, since to me she usually shows up in the Emotional area. I suddenly had a suspticion about it, and asked my friend, who was with me, what he saw in that card, without telling him what I thought. He said what I was thinking: pregnancy.

I was wondering what everybody else thinks the Queen of Cups could mean in the 'Physical' area of my life? As a side note, the Queen of Cups (I was using the Thoth deck) is seen as the 'Watery part of Water', or the most receptive Court of all. In the centre of the reading was the Knight of Wands, the 'Fiery part of Fire', or the most active Court of all. To me, the Knight of Wands also represents my boyfriend.

To make me feel edven better (not) my friend kindly pointed out that for him, whenever a Knight and Queen show up so close to each other in a reading he usually interprets them as a Father and Mother.

To top it all off, I was playing a Tarot game that you can also use for divination, and the Queen of Cups came up again... Twice (I enjoy the game!), fell out of the pack whilst I was shuffling, and in a third round of the game, was the first card to be turned over.

Any thoughts? (Other than 'watch the contraception'!)

Always good advice ;)

However, I'd take the Q/Cups physically as just female problems. You may think of them as emotional, but hormonal ups and downs can be very physical. Radical mood swings due to a hormonal imbalance, feeling bloated or heavy with water weight. I might also include headaches as I connect the Q/Cups to psychic abilities.

I wish I could tell you that there was something physically positive about Q/Cups--maybe if you plan to go swimming? In which case, I predict that you'll swim like a mermaid, win any swimming competition and come out of the water feeling great.

Kiama: you have mentioned recently your deep desire right now to have children. I think the Queen of Cups is just reflecting this. Your body is ready and waiting.

However, I don't see any pregnancy here for you. I see more the desire for one.

You may also be experiencing some water retention without realising it. There are herbal teas that help with this, but I can't recall now which ones. Perhaps you have a good health-store that can recommend you some.

I agree with Thirteen about some hormonal imbalance. Hormones are strange things, they seem to do their own thing without any rhyme or reason. Make sure you get a lot of exercice. Walking is sufficient (not strolling though!).

I have a feeling this Queen of Cups will be with you for some time, so you'll have to find a way to make her your ally so that she doesn't become a burden.

Kiama,

I think Diana and Thirteen are pretty much spot on in their suggestions.

The Queen of Cups can also be connected to indigestion and anaemia in a physical health sense. There can also be some emotional lability, probably due to hormonal imbalances. Weght gain is also a possibility.

Greer suggests there may be the capacity for you to do some psychic healing, either through counselling or by taking on another's pain.

Best wishes.........

Diana , Thirteen and Moongold ;of course have given excellent comments... this may be a little bit out there....

what about watercolors....even if you are not an " artist" watercolour painting can be really relaxing and freeing...on the other hand if you are a painter; watercolour painting can be very technically demanding an unforgiving....
This is just something that popped into my head thinking about QofCups in the Physical..the paper , the brush, the water it is all very physical...the painting process itself being very dreamy QofCupsy....:)

Kiama,

In Thoth, I see the Queen of Cups as meditating. I know others have suggested hormonal fluctuations or water retention, and possibly the need for more movement (exercise), but my first reaction to your question was a need to be still in your center and relax, reflect.

Usually meditation is thought of as mental or spiritual, but on a physical level it supports the relaxation response--lowering blood pressure and heart rate. Athletes also sometimes use visualization exercises, which are a type of meditation, to improve their performance.

Have you had your blood pressure checked lately? Of course a problem with that could indicate a need for exercise too, as well as fluid imbalance--or a need for balance of both stillness and movement.

Now there's a very good point! Yes, I agree, I think the Q/cups could be related to blood pressure and/or blood sugar imbalances.

My only stipulation would be that it wouldn't be high blood pressure like with, say, a King (of wands or swords likely) where blood pressure goes up thanks to daily stress, rage (serious anger management problems) or constant tension. It's either blood pressure highs from recent and temporary anxiety or a general proclivity for hypertension.

Thanks all, for your comments and insights! I must admit that one of my wekaness with Tarot reading is pinpointing physical things with Tarot: I can do quite well when it comes to emotional, mental, spiritual things, but things in the physical I have a bit of a block on. I think I'll grab the cards and go through each one, noting down what I think each one in the 'physical' coudl signify.

Everybody's suggestions seem more likely and seem to fit better into my life right now that pregnancy. I particularly took to heart Diana's points, that the desire for a baby is very strong and physically I am at the right age for a baby. (But not ready life-wise yet!) I think that I will try to find a way to make the Queen of Cups my 'ally' for this time, as Diana suggests... Now, let me think about this one...

Queen of Cups to me is the ultimate receptor, she just soaks stuff up like a sponge, but never lets it go... Maybe I could work on my receptivity? Maybe this would be a good time also to work on my psychic abilities, which at the moment seem to be buried under tons of other stuff. Once again, the Queen of Cups is the ultimate receptor, so I'm thinking maybe I could try to strengthen my link with the Divine in order to 'receive' Its messages more clearly, and act as a medium through which It can work...

*Something clicks* It all makes sense now... I think I know where I'm going.

Thankyou all so much for your help with this one. Not only have I identified my weaknesses and can work to strengthen them, but I also know what I need to do from now on.

*Hugs to all!*
