card slips out during shuffling?

Anyone ever had a card slip out when you are shuffling the deck? Does this "slipped" card having any significance to the answer of my question/ or what i'm about to read? Or do you just ignore the slipped card, as if it was a loose card with no signifance what so ever? Thanks if you can help answer this!! :D

i have had my share of slipped cards during shuffling. i take it that there is no need for me to continue on, that the cards are telling me the answer that i need to know.

I've heard these called 'leapers', those cards that unaccountably hop forth during a shuffling effort.
My approach to them has been to continue the shuffling and lay the spread on the table, without that card in the deck, and then to set the 'leaper' on the table along with the spread. I take that card as being a secondary and important light on the spread, and read it into the reading as a whole.

This happens to me almost all the time... I begin shuffling the deck, and suddenly, a card or two pops out and falls to the floor. I think these cards are important, and they usually do answer questions, or at least, give more insight into an issue. I say don't ignore the card... it fell out for a reason.

Both of those responses are good. I don't have this happen to me often but I see it as having some significance and set it aside, either continuing with the reading if I feel the need, or if the card seems to really be speaking to me, it may in fact be the answer I needed.

Sometimes a leaper means that your deck is too stiff, too new; nothing more.

With a well broken in deck – it may indicate the theme of the reading.

Or it may mean that study and practice of shuffling skills is required.

Or it may be an important message that requires attention.

Sorta depends…

I don't get very many "leapers" and from what I can tell, they generally don't seem to add anything to the overall reading. Unless it's a really obvious "look at me!" sort of feeling I get, I just put it back in the deck and continue shuffling. The way I figure it is: if the card is really important, it'll come up in the reading itself (after being shuffled back in). Either that, or a similar theme might show up in the reading. I think that I can still get the message without having cards be naughty during shuffling.

It happens sometimes and I always use those cards on the reading. At least, of course, its because of me being really clumsy shuffling (wich is not rare anyway).

Yeah, I'm a messy shuffler sometimes too! I look at the card and remember it, then I put it back in the pack and continue with the spread. But - I always remember what the card was - it usually does have some bearing on the spread.

I get leapers... that is when I stop the shuffle and lay the spread...

and as Umbrae says, new deck stiffness and leapers are different..

I have a deck hat is soooo slippery they always fly out of my hands.. that would be the exception.. maybe when this deck is broken in I will make notice of the leapers from them.

My other decks however.. those I notice. :)

The leapers to me is a info card &/or that I have shuffled enough. I just go with the flow.

A new deck I would try to break it in first before worrying about it.

The card that slips out, I have always found, has been as Umbrae has said an important message that requires attention for the querent. Always.

YES, I find the card that slips out (and sometimes they really fly don't they) is important in some way.....;)
Sometimes though it is a new deck or a bad shuffler.....
I leave that up to my intuition to decide.

Going along with the majority (now that's rare), I also believe that a card that jumps out has some significance. I just keep it in my mind when doing the reading. It could be other influences, or an approach not thought of, etc.

I think this is me. If I only get one leaper then I may take notice of the card and pop it back but at the moment with the Morgan Greer there are so many that pop out it would be a useless exercise. I'm with Umbrae on this one - I need more practice I think. It does depend on the deck though!

I've not heard that term for "flying cards" but I like it. I also go with the consensus and take it to mean that the cards are telling me something. I usually look at the card remember it and then put it back in the deck and just continue to shuffle.

Although I do also like the idea of putting in to the side and see how it relates to whatever spread you are doing. Perhaps I'll try that next time.

I knew I'd learn all sorts of new stuff posting on here.
