Hi folks,
I've checked for rules on the Study Groups but couldn't find any, so I don't know if I should have signed up somewhere before posting here. My apologies to all of you if I'm gatecrashing.
I love the Nine of Pentacles, and am always happy when it comes up for me, which it does a lot. I feel it symbolises, among other things, the kind of contented independence women have had to strive for and have difficulty achieving even nowadays. It's a card that always gives me a feeling of peace.
There are nice renditions of it in many of the decks I have, but I particularly like the one in the Universal Waite. A detail I noticed which I haven't seen commented on in any of my books is that, to me, the nine pentacles themselves seem to form an animal shape, under the hand of the woman, as if she's patting a huge dog - or even a lion - which immediately made me link it to the Strength card. I like this idea, because it seems to me the picture of having 'tamed' pentacles i.e. being able to enjoy the bounty of the material world, and take care of it, but without being controlled or obsessed by it (as in, for example, the 4 of pentacles).
Is this reading too much into the card, do you think, or is it something that's so obvious everybody's noticed it ages ago, and I'm a sillybilly for even bringing it up now? I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.
Blessings,
Kate.

I looked at the two cards & I see what you mean. I never thought of that before. Both people are facing the same way etc.
If it works for you all the better!!! Thanks for sharing.

I like this Bean Feasa. I always look at cards with a view to finding something to hang my own meanings on. If it works for you then I think thats great. In fact, I wont be able to look at the card now without seeing an animal of sorts!!
Thanks
