Drawing Extra Cards

Sometimes in a spread if there is not many reversed cards I will use them as blocks or things that are not happening yet & to unblock that card I will get the client to choose another card to see what are underlying influences of that card. Of course I've read this but, any ideas? yes or no does it work? Also the Pages I use as messages sometimes & let the client choose a card for extra info of the message. yes or no does it work? Thanks for any replys, I know everyone has their own way of reading. These are just some ideas I've read about.

Ros, about using a random card for unblocking reversals... I use that, but only when I do reversals, that is with Marseilles Major Arcana. I think it works and i like to do so. The card you or the querent pick up for unblocking has a helpful insight, gives a clue on whats wrong and how to corrrect it. Once this is understood i put the "unblocking card" up the other in the spread and the reversed in the right way. I like a lot this way of reading, and is very helpful. But i dont use it much, only in special situations. It may sound silly, but i find this kind of reading has some kind of magic. About choosing cards for clarifying the messages, i never used it. Sounds more like picking any clarification card.

that's a really interesting idea about the pages, i have never read about that approach. when you use that concept in a reading do you then take into account the knave's suit over the spread positioning? for example, if the page of pentacles comes up, would the clarification card to follow speak to an issue in the nature of the pentacle suit, or would a page's positioning in a spread be an indication of the message to follow without the specificity of that suit? thanks for the idea and insight.

Wynde: I just tell where the page is that there is messages coming: Page of Cups- surprise message or invite that will be emotional Page of Coins- message about studies or money Page of Wands- messages of changing job or enviorment also there mabee the start of "gossip" Page of Swords- you messages will come from (s)words, the phone, e-mail etc. but make sure you get "all" the info before you do anything. Then I just ask them to pick another card since the pages are beginning to help with the message. Diana: I use my swords as moving energy. The messages are in motion. I don't know if it's right or wrong but it's fun, it makes you think longer. lol
