I just read this from
Tarot of the Journey to the Orient
by Pietro Alligo & Riccardo Minetti
"...have the Querient cut the deck in two. Before uniting the deck, take a look at the two cards which were cut; they will tell you about tell you about the Querient's emotional situation...."
Does anyone do this?
Or what does the cards mean where they are cut?
Never thought of any of this before & I have never tried this. Just thought it was good info about reading the cards.

I don't always do this, but I do these two "variations" on that:
1. for 3-card readings, I just cut the cards into 3 piles (L - R) and flip over the top card on each pile.
2. For every other reading, I cut into 3 piles, L - R, then unite them, and after the reading, I look at the bottom card as a clarifier or as another influence that may need to be recognized. This card would be the bottom card of the last pile, or the top pile of the deck before it was cut.
Sometimes these types of "secret" cards can give you a whole different perspective.

Do they mean the 2 cards on the bottom of each half or the 2 cards at the cut?

I'm going to try the bottom of each half of the cut. I always do the two cuts, but only, if ever looked at the bottom card after it was put back together.

I do something like this: sometimes if I'm just pulling one or two cards for a very quick reading, I'll simply cut the pack and read the card on the bottom of the top half.
For a larger reading for somebody else, I will often check out the cards on the bottom when the cut is made (I ask the querent to cut the pack twice with the left hand after I shuffle the pack.) Often I find it does give some sort of pre-emptive general overview or feeling of the issue/reading, and I note down the cards so I can read them with the rest of the reading. Of course, if those cards also come up in the ensuing reading, I pay extra attention to them.

This is very interesting, I've never heard of that before. I might try it if my querent is being secretive :D

Hi,
I have the quarent shuffle (of if a distant reading, shuffle while focusing on the quarent-visualize them sitting across from me), then have them hand me the cards, I try to ask that they do not try to straiten them and they hand me the cards left hand to left hand (heart to heart).
I then cut the deck in the 1st place I see a "split" (a place where the cards don't sit perfectly on top of one another) or maybe a card sticking out..never from the top.
It seems to work for me. Try every possible way and find the one that is right for you..
Blessings,
CJ
