I was interested in how many people are doing or interested in this study?

TemperanceAngel  14 Jan 2004
Is it a bit cheeky, to post in your own poll first?? XTAX

Imagemaker  14 Jan 2004
1 + 1 = 2

'nuff said?

Majecot  15 Jan 2004
I am studying and posting.. and keeping a record in a word file so that when I go back to look at what I have written, I don't have to remember which page my post is on :)

I think I will also print it and put it in a binder as we go along.

rexenne2003  15 Jan 2004
Me three! I am studying and posting!

Moonbow*  15 Jan 2004
Me four

I have been doing the 5 minutes every day (although some days nothing different comes to me)

I post when I feel like it and then add to the post if something else comes out.

I record the entire post in a journal for future ref.

Moonbow* :)

PS I think its going to be really interesting in 78 weeks time! (If I manage it) to go back through the posts and see if I have learnt any more that I can add to them.

Moonbow*  15 Jan 2004
Ahh - I have just noticed that we have a 'no and two no's but they would like to do it'.

For those three just look at the first post by jmd in any of the '78 weeks' study threads for details. Anyone can join.

I too am studing, posting, learning and keeping a record on my computer but also in a folder I can take with me ( case the puter goes haywire) I can go over them at any time. being a beginner I think it really helps.

Phoenyx  15 Jan 2004
I'm trying as hard as I can to find time to squeeze some study time in with my cards.

mooncat2  16 Jan 2004
Oh dear, I'm not getting my posts done! Its so hot in my little computer room!! Excuses, Excuses.

But I am doing it - writing, meditating and reflecting on my card of the week.

I shall catch up......soon..

CreativeFire  16 Jan 2004
I too am studying, posting and learning - have a bit of catching up to do.... but almost there.

Am really enjoying the studies - write down my research and thoughts in my tarot journal and then post them when I get the chance.

Im one of those who would like to do it. But seems i will go a month after all you, which doesnt sounds fun. So maybe im starting with the Emperor to go with the same card than you and end after everyone is done...

I dont know if i would have enough constance to keep 78 weeks doing this... My idea is i will do one meditation on the card first and then carry it with me all the week trying to see the world through the eyes of that card (becoming it somehow) at least at some moments of the day, although there are some cards im not sure i would like to do so...

This study is an interesting one, so congrats to all of you who are doing it!

spoonbender  16 Jan 2004
I'm trying to keep studying the cards on a regular basis, but it's pretty hard at times, you know, with school and stuff. I try to make time for it, though, and have already learned quite a lot from the 78-Weeks.

Thank you to everyone that's participating , you have given me a lot of insights.

Regards to everyone,
Spoonbender

The date today is the 19th of January and 12 people have said they post their thoughts on the card and 8 don't.
Three don't know what the study is and four would like to do it (please join in with us!)

So that is 20 people doing the study what a great well-rounded number!

I would like to do another poll in a couple of months or so, moderator, is it possible to close this thread?

You only want the poll to run for 4 days? Surely the idea is to encourage and allow people to take part?

This poll will drop down the board once people stop responding. How would that stop you doing another poll in a couple of months?

Why do you want this thread closed?

Edited to add: I've only just voted myself. ;) If you'd like to add further options to your poll drop me a pm.

Keep it running, if you think that's the go, Major Tom.

My intention was to see how many have started and how many will be at the end :)
And how many drop out over the next couple of months or so :)

Edited to add that for some reason I thought the poll had been running for a couple of weeks, not 4 days

I am studying everyday, trying to get my thoughts posted in the relevant weeks card thread (have a little catching up to do) but I am enjoying every minute of it.

It's amazing what new things you can see on the cards in just a couple of minutes quiet study. I've never really done a full indepth study of a deck before and the Morgan Greer is a perfect companion. :)

I would like to do it, but i think i've missed to many weeks already lol.

Please join us even if you're starting late--there's 71 weeks to go! There's plenty of material ahead . . .

Don't let that deter you. I am behind too, but I will continue to move at my own pace. There may also be weeks where you are able to do more than one card. It is really enlightening and lots of fun.

I am only on the Lovers still, and haven't posted my Emporer or Hierophant, but it'll get there.

feel free to join in!

inanna_tarot.

Instead of trying to catch up, why dont you just join in with us where we are now. We start another card tomorrow. I will probably do Justice, since two of the three decks I am studying have that sequence, but I suspect some will do Strength. If it all goes well by the end of the 71 weeks left, you could always tack the missing ones on the end.

I am learning so much by studying and reflecting on the cards like this. I am sure you will too.

J :)

Majecot  08 Feb 2004
It is never to late to start, or to pick it back up again ;)

jmd  08 Feb 2004
I agree so much...

The past two weeks have been quite hectic for me, and though I have made some private notes, I have not posted on either the Lovers nor Chariot yet (I'm hoping to do so later today).

Even if someone was to join in six months time, it is the combined benefit of doing the daily work, and the added bonus of doing it in community, which adds to the wonderful reflections we may each individually have :)

So welcome to this wonderful work...

Nevada  08 Feb 2004
I too have fallen off and need to start posting my notes again. I need to catch up with Hierophant, Lovers and Chariot.

c0de  12 Feb 2004
I wanna join how can I?

jmd  12 Feb 2004
Just join in :)

Next Monday, many of us will be doing the Hermit for that week.

You may of course choose to do any other card instead, and certainly not everyone is doing the same card.

The idea is to put aside 5 minutes daily, and just look at that card (or cards if using more than one deck). Some of the threads describe varieties of additions which each of us have personally added to the basic concept.

c0de  12 Feb 2004
so i just post my thoughts on the card?

Yep,
you can take a look at some of the other threads, everybody has their own method, some are posting at the begining of the week then editing for daily oberservation, some post at the end of the week. don't feel like you have to try to catch up.

inanna_tarot  17 Feb 2004
Hey again!
Okie giving this thread alot more thought now!
Do you read up about your card(s) and the add your own thoughts to it, or do you just jump straight in with your own thoughts and only them?

Sezo

Imagemaker  17 Feb 2004
I sit with the card and as things catch my attention (items, colors and people) I write down what they are and my thoughts. Then, because I'm studying the Haindl which has a lot of symbols and references I'm not familiar with, I look up the card's discussion in the handbook.

Then I post the highlights of what came to me, what the card says to me, and questions about remains confusing or unexplained.

My goal is to learn to read with this deck, which isn't communicating clearly to me yet.

jmd  18 Feb 2004
I suspect we each do things quite differently - and suggest you do whatever works for you.

The importance is to do the five daily minutes - even if only by looking at the card and not even thinking about it.

For myself, I usually, at some stage in the week, read at least a little what someone else has said, but also regularly work at re-creating the card in my own imagination, and allow the scene and characters to 'take life', and thus interact with them either as active participant, or as indeed becoming the character in question.

If you're not sure, may I strongly suggest doing no more than just daily looking for five minutes (which is a long time) at the card you are 'working' on. The results can be astounding :)

Luna just directed me here. Love the thread. I am on Magician today...I posted there even though it started much earlier...will continue to post on card threads and maybe catch up. Great idea. I am learning and find this a very organized way of not missing cards and of getting a wide variety of input from users of various decks. Thanks!
