Im sorry, but i will prolly be posting lost of threads, considering that im still new to the tarot. But my question is... How are some ways to clense your tarot deck. Also are there any ways that you can make your deck Stronger? Thank you.

Hey crazy legs,
Personally, I don't feel a need to cleanse my decks, and they've worked fine for me. If a deck isn't "working" well, then I just set it aside for a while and use a different one. However, if you really feel the need the cleanse, there are several ways to do it. For starters, you can simply put the deck back in order - majors and minors by suit. If you have more magical leanings, you can cleanse your deck by passing it over the four elements - earth, air, fire and water. Some people will leave their deck out under the full moon or the sun. But I don't recommend leaving your deck in full sunlight for too long because they can fade.

I don't really understand what you mean by making a deck stronger? Could you explain a little more?

Stronger... Hmmm. Perhapes there is a way to give you deck more power... from where ever you may get it.

I believe that the power in the tarot actually comes from the reader. Going on that assumption, you can give your deck more power by practicing and learning more and more about tarot. Also, with practice, you'll get really good at interpretation. Reading and posting on Aeclectic is a great way to start.

Where do you think the power in the tarot comes from? Does it originate with you? Is it something inherent in the cards?

Just some things to think about.

I think that its with-in myself. Well i guess practice makes perfect.

A 10-minute shower usually does the trick.

Seriously, though, I don't cleanse or clean or disinfect my decks either. Of course, I'm one of those heretics who doesn't order their decks, or use a laying cloth, or make sure they're all housed just so. The way I figure it, the cards are there to serve me, not me them. If they're dirty, they know where the bathroom is.

Only half-facetiously,

Kim

I don't 'cleanse' either, but some like to put the cards under moonlight for a night. Personally I think of them as a tool, and when you come down to it---cardboard. Not very mystical, I know, but as the others say, all the ability & power is within you, not the deck. The images connect with something inside you & that's where the reading comes out of.

I simply shuffle them.
