There are some that see a ‘daisy chain’ on the child’s head in the Rider Waite Sun card.
Figuratively speaking, a daisy chain describes a series of related things, people, or experiences.
But I reckon it’s more likely to be the Sun’s astrological glyph, you know, the circle with the dot in the middle.
Now there are six of these here. But why six? Can anyone throw some light on this?
Would be much appreciated. Gloria.

Hi Gloria,
According to 'Pictures from the Heart' by Sandra Thompson it is a wreath of flowers which symbolises the approach to the harvest of 'final realization and liberation'. She also says the six flowers may relate to the sixth sephira which corresponds to the sun. I'm just looking at my Radiant Rider-Waite though and it has seven flowers??

I would have to look at the RWCS card again - which I do not have with me right at the moment - but seem to recall that there are not six flowers, but a total of ten.
The six smaller (visible) Sunflowers upon the child's head, and four large (visible) Sunflowers 'on' the wall behind him.
Six has been said by some to be the number of the Sun - though I personally tend to not agree (except indirectly in connection to the Sun as the sixth Sefirah on the Tree of Life).
That said, the flowers of the child's 'crown' do have an air of solar glyph... so how many are hidden from view?

Hi jmd,
In my Radiant Rider Waite, there are four sunflowers on the wall and definately seven (however it is past midnight and I'll admit to a couple of glasses of wine!!) on the childs head. Am I going mad??

I have read somewhere that there also six hidden glyphs/flowers on child's head making twelve in total. I would think this is to do with the Sun's control over the signs of the Zodiac.
The sunflowers on the wall facing the child (rather than facing the sun as they naturally would) I think symbolises the light and radiancy that comes from within the child.
In the Universal Sun there are four and a half sunflowers on the wall and seven visible glyphs/flowers on child's head.
Jewel-ry...by the time I have had a couple glasses wine this evening this number could increase!
Thanks JMD and Jewel-ry. :)
