How do you spend your 5 minutes????

Hi everyone,

Well, we are in the third week of jmd's 78 week card study and I wanted to say that I am enjoying it immensely. I am learning so much about the archtypes. I wanted to try and bring aspects of the cards into my everyday life and so I am consciously aware of which card we are studying. I now find myself saying 'So, what would the High Priestess/Empress (etc) do in this situation'. I think having a whole week to study the card is great because after the first couple of days I have pretty much got the cards sussed and so I go on and read articles, passages, look at other cards, meditate etc and new aspects show themselves to me. I am still managing to spend at least 5 minutes everyday with the chosen archtype. What I have found is that I can now bring the cards to mind and almost do my reflections at any time.

So, what I'd like to know is - Are you all still managing a few minutes a day and what are you doing in your study. Is it affecting your overall understanding of the card, or even your life. Its definately having an impact on mine!!

A big, big thank-you jmd. I love doing this. I am gaining so much from it.

J :)

I agree with you wholeheartedly, jewel-ry. I'm enjoying the Haindl images much more than I thought I would--writing about them has brought out angles I didn't expect (learning from the crystals in the Magician card and seeing the Empress as a door).

I think about the week's image all week and notice events that reflect it. Synchronicities appear . . .

Thanks Jewel-ry :)

I find often that the power of regular five-minute reflections - especially when striven to be undertaken daily at around the same time - is vastly overlooked. Yet it forms also part of the vast resources of various esoteric societies and groups precisely because of its efficacity. Just imagine what likewise could happen if neighbours at each other's throats were to, for only five daily minutes, take stock and reflect (even if initially the reflection is to only better squeeze)!

We are also nearing a period which for many of us the regularity will begin to be a little difficult to maintain: the first hurddle along the way. Perseverence will again yield amazing results.

Personally, what I do is that I either read a little or reflect a little on some thoughts, then look at either one or more versions of the card, and only then prepare for the 'meditation' proper.

For this, I sit comfortably, and ascend the Tree of Life in order. From that position, I then move into the Sefirah into which I personally place the card, and then either converse, listen, become or am shown some aspect or 'key' feature. Being thankful for the experience, I then from the heights again descend step by step down the Tree.

I then take the time to make some notes.

From walking into the separate room to the time I exit again takes anywhere between 5 and 25 minutes.

The importance, again, is the regularity of the exercise - and there are always things which may demand one's attention.

Of course, if I am at another's house for dinner or at the cinemas, then I may forgo the time...

Thanks for bringing this thread, Jewel-ry...

I spend my five minutes in various ways, I am looking at the cards, making notes, some times I just meditate on them bfore bed. Some times I read a little.
I don't always get the same five minutes every day, but I think I am managing at least five minutes everyday.
I am really enjoying this exersize.. I feel like I am getting to them must better and I find I am noticing more of the imagery.
When I write my post (with feet up on the desk and keyboard on my lap..) I have my cards propped up on the key board so that I can look at them while I write my post.
I go back and re-read my posts. I do not put the cards away until the week is over, they stay beside my computer. (since that is where I spend most of my time..lol)

After much thought I decided to just study the one deck - the Morgan Greer - my study with the Ancient Egyptian didn't work out and the Morgan Greer pulls me so strongly it was the obvious choice.

I bought an A5 size ring binder with a plastic sleeve where I put the card I am studying, try to do the 5 minutes a day - and if not 5 mins then at least 2 or 3 - I make notes, just jotting things down - sometimes reminders to find more about the symbols and colours on the cards. I'm actually making use of all those tarot books that have sat on my shelves unread for years. I'm seeing even more on the cards than I did before. It turning out to be a very enjoyable way to learn a deck. :)

I've only really got stuck in with the Empress card this week, I was away for a few days with the High Priestess but I really feel like I've settled down now for the duration with the Morgan Greer.

I have been keeping my 5 minutes per day up - although sometimes I think its much longer. I tend to do it last thing at night when I am in bed and relaxed.

Its an excellent way of get to know the deck, I am learning the marseilles by doing this but I am also spending a bit of time looking through some other decks at the same card. I may concentrate on just one deck or even change decks in the future but my aim is to keep it up every week - if I can.

I look at the card, sometimes I meditate on it and sometimes I dream about it. Any thoughts that come to me, I write down as quickly as possible (especially after dreaming or meditation). Writing it all down is the way I remember things (I always used to revise this way too).
