court card as an outcome card

Stuck on this idea.

When a court card is in the outcome position do you pull another card?
I think it may mean that a person or that kind of personality of the court card will show you or be your answer or outcome. I know this is choice but just wondering.

Thanks for any replys.

I used to have the problem of figuring out what it means when a court card is the outcome. Then I learned something...the court cards dont always represent a person. Think of the other things that the card represents.

Hi Ross,

Sometimes I draw an extra card if it seems the outcome may involve another person. Usually, though, I see it as an indication of attributes of the quearant that may be brought to the surface due to the circumstances of the reading.

It is tough though when that happens. I am looking forward to seeing how other people read this, because it always catches me off gard when that happens.

No - I try not to. I decided some time ago, after too many bad experiences, that drawing extra cards (whether it be for outcome or another position) was tempting the devil. I ask the Tarot a question, it graciously gives me an answer. If I am too dumb to understand it... then that's my problem.

Yes, I hope someday I will read I not think about the If's. I do someday's & then in walks Doubt.

Nope... in walks the Devil (let's hop over to skytwig's post.) Self-imposed limitations......

Diana, you keep your pencil sharp.

Self-imposed limitations, the possibilities go on forever.

As an outcome without knowing the question I would say either its a person around them or an aspect of themselves that they need to deveolp. But more over I take into account the other cards that poped up in the reading to see if their is a theam that could help me decerin the court cards intention.

Hey, I'll be the Devil's advocate!

I think you can always pull a card for clarification. But don't be surprised if it doesn't clear up a thing--or just repeats what the first card already said. Decks have their pride, after all.

That said, yes, Court Cards are usually people--but that doesn't negate them as "outcome" cards. For example--if you were asking about a health problem, a Queen of Cups outcome card might be telling you get rid of your stuffy old doctor and go to a new, unconventional (psychic?) healer (Queen of Swords: Acupuncture?). If a legal question, a Knight of Sword might be the tarot's way of saying, "Get a killer lawyer to fight for you!" A court card could be telling you to go to a friend, teacher, advisor--OR it could be telling you that you're only going to get what you want if you change your additude

If your spread is full of cups, and your outcome is the King of Wands, then the tarot might be telling you: no more wishy-washy cups--it's time to be a King of Wands and stand your ground. Or if there are a lot of swords, and a Knight of Pentacles is the outcome, then the tarot might be saying: stop swinging idea/worry swords around--become the Knight of Pentacles and get to work!

Finally, if you really can't understand the outcome card as a person--then it might not be a person. King's are rulers, the crown, the reason the Kingdom exists at all. Queens take care of the castle, Knights fight for the Kingdom--and pages deliver messages. So King of Cups suggests that the most important thing is, perhaps, Love, while a Queen of Cups suggests that you can build on Love and a Knight of Cups that you'll fight for Love--and a page that you should send out--or listen to messages of Love.

Court Cards are richer in meaning then they seem, though no less enigmatic.

Thanks Thirteen, your explanations are always so lucid! And thanks to you Ros, for asking the question. As so often on Aeclectic, I go away wiser than I arrived. :) Kate
