Crystal Tarot-Colors

I'm currently studying the Crystal Tarot and I can't help but notice that colors play a large part in this deck. So much so that I'm surprised that nothing about it is mentioned in the LWB. I've never used color to interpret meaning in a deck before, so I'm wondering: Is there some type of standard color meanings that I'm not aware of? I always have the feeling that there is more information in these cards than I'm aware of. Readings just seem kind of ....incomplete. Anyone want to share how they interpret the colors?

Hi Twenty-One. Interpreting colours in tarot cards, eh? This is a wonderful topic and deserves to be explored in depth. It's an issue Rusty Neon brought up recently with regards to the Tarot of Marseille. Reading with Marseilles Decks -- how do you interpret the colours? Sometimes colours are thought to be symbolic of the different stages of the Alchemical Process. Various threads explore these colour - alchemy connections: - The Philosopher's Stone at attempt to discuss/explore of the alchemical process, stages, symbolism... - Jodo Camoin TdM -- 2 of Cups and 4 of Coins (The Birds) discussion of red and yellow - Alchemical Symbolism and Color - MP ten of swords thread See Earth Angel's wonderful colour analysis. - Rage of the Green Lion discussion of red and green, and of the stages of the alchemical process. While in some decks, like the Marseille, and the Margarete Peterson, alchemy may be an important part of the symbolism, I personally haven't thought of the Crystal tarot colours as representing any particular symbolism... it would be awfully complex, LOL! all those little squares. Thanks for the links, firemaiden. They should help very much. I have read that thread. Unfortunately, I don't have anything to add to it. I'm not aware of any painting that looked like the top of that card.

Twenty~One, I too have the crystal tarots but even though they are beautiful, I have trouble making deeper connections with them. I did notice the predominance of certain colours, so maybe they would help... thanks for bringing that up :) And great links, Firemaiden... I'll check them out soon. -Aerten

I do not have the Crystal Tarot. But I do study crystals. Colour plays an important role in their properties and their uses. There is also a crystal that is assigned to each card in the Major Arcana. I will have to go to a link and look at these cards to see if I can make a more informed response. Dexter

Hi twenty~one, I just ordered the Crystal Tarot. It's the colors of this deck that actually drew me to it. I can't wait to get it in hand. The pictures I've seen of it on the internet look so lovely. Momof3girls:)
