Dealing spreads

I just read the threads on shuffling and dealing...I thought I might find answer to my question there, but didn't (or missed it) When dealing for myself (if I don't use reversed cards, which I am doing now) I assume I just turn over card and place in position of spread. If I read for someone else, what methods do you use? Would I deal toward them so that the up (non-reversed) cards face the person I am reading ...or do I place them in the spread facing me (which I assume would be the way to best "read" them and see the placements) I'm a beginner ....but after reading all the different ways people shuffle and cut, I thought I'd explore the deal. thanks

I just found Firemaiden's Thread on Mechanics of Reading. Looks like this will be helpful! I saved it in Favorites so I can work through it...but still appreciate your ideas and input

Hi tmgrl2: When I am doing a reading I always read the cards 'facing me', regardless of the Q is present at the reading. If the Q is present, I seat them opposite me. I don't usually allow the Q to shuffle the cards (by my own personal preference), but when I used to, I would always let the Q know that it was important to hand the cards back to me either top-to-bottom or bottom-to-top -- which would determine the reversals in their reading.

Thanks, Orion...that feels right to me to, having the Q facing me and dealing the cards (like turning pages of book) into spread facing me with Q opposite...I think it would be difficult any other way and wouldn't want Q next to me... Also as a new member I like the suggestion that many of you have made (just read old thread by Umbrae in Mechanics of Reading) suggesting the 3-card spread. Bunning suggests Celtic Cross....maybe later, but too many combination possibilities for me right now....thanks again
