With the Moon being one of the problems cards for me, it almost hurts to admit that it took a 'fluff' deck to illuminate it. Even then it hit like a ton of bricks that - well gee - it's actually pretty stinkin obvious.
I got the mini Fairy Tarot (LS) a couple of weeks ago, just because it's cute, and finally got around to looking through it this morning. So there I was, one daughter chewing on my toes, the other one pointing out all the critters on the cards, and me sitting there laughing at the both of them, when we got ot the moon card.
A male and a female sitting next to each other. Naturally, if they're sitting together and talking, they're aware of each other. They can communicate. But really, men and women pretty much live on separate planets other than that. They're mysteries to each other. Neither one really knows what the other is thinking or is planning on doing. Their body language and way of talkign is often different, thought they can communicate.
*BLINK*
Wow. You know, that's just like that dog and that wolf in the Waite based decks.
Duh.
They complement each other, too. They're interested in each other, and sometimes get along, and sometimes fight, often try to understand one another, but they're really feeling things otu in the dark. Their perspective is skewed (ever notice how the light of the full moon makes things look different than they actually are?) but they have an idea of what's there.
They're still cute. It's still a fluff deck - I could probably never use it to read with. The fairies just managed to hit me between the eyes with a 2x4 on this one. Awfully strong for such little things. ;)

WOW ... I'm really glad you had a Eureka moment there Cricket!
Personally I generally pigeon hole the Moon as a girl thang, and the Sun as guy thang, LOL, and as such I can quite see your men are from mars and women are from Venus resonance
Nice work :)

Right on! Love that analogy.
That makes a lot of sense (the mystery between men vs. women & the dog vs. wolf)!
I happen to really like the Moon card - although I don't think I've thought about why...
But, by any chance, did you "fluffy fairies" enlighten you on the lobster?

I was actually just reading about the moon card last night. A couple different sources said different things about the crawfish/lobster. One is that it's kind of the monsters or nightmares of the unconscious. It's only 1/2 way out of the water so it's not making itself fully known. And it's likely to climb back in, after all, since when do lobsters naturally crawl around on dry land? Not even when the moon is full do they go THAT crazy!
Another book said it has something to do with the back-and-forth or zigzagging way that the crawfish moves, which reflects the winding path that appears in the distance in some of the versions of this card.
In either case, sounds like it's supposed to represent something that's elusive (possibly b/c it frightens us?) and comes from the unconscious???

How about the crawfish is our self crawling out of our darkside trying to get to our higherself. The crawfish has to focus to walk the middle of the path, & knows that to get to the next step it does not come all at once, but one step at a time.
Our subconscious transforming into consciousness.

Crayfish and lobsters are also nocturnal. Perhaps it’s a part of ourselves that we don’t let show in the harsh light of day.
