Would the phrase 'beating a dead horse' be an accurate assessment for this card do you think?

Sure.

I like to sum it all up as overkill.

I like it!

The reason I asked was because the cartoon cat deck I'm working on needed something different than 10 swords stuck in the back. I came up with a good picture for the ferret deck, but can't use the same thing for the cat one. A 'stuffed horse' being wacked (button eyes, sawdust coming out, rough stitch lines--not gross!) seemed very out of the ordinary, yet would get the concept of the card across with humor. He's actually using a stick, not a bat, but I think it would work.

I just needed to test the phrase out first - thanks!

What a great idea, HudsonGray. I like it :D

Thanks, the whole deck will be featuring several of the cats I used to draw on mail art to pen pals about 5 years ago. I've got to think up a good name for it yet. "Through Space & Time With O.C. Cat" is too long.

I thought a long time about it, and think several cards will have scenes from well known movies after all (Jurassic Park, Alien, Stargate, Star Trek), but they're going to be done as a parody so there's no copyright infringement there.

The rest will be the cats doing things, hopefully interpreting the meanings for the cards in some unusual way. I definately don't want to just copy the RW deck. The Hermit card has petroglyphs on a cliffside. The 2 of Pentacles is a little closer to home with him juggling bowling balls while balancing a feather on his nose & trying to walk a tight rope. But the rest I want to go farther afield with the images.

This one will take me a while, probably several months.

how about: The Cat Continuum :)

LOL I wonder if Paramount (Star Trek) has a hold on that word?

Definately NOT 'Cats In Space'. I've got an X-Files image in the works too, for it. Cat Fantasy? Naw, seems too fairy-ish.
