I`ve pulled out my old Cosmic tarat and have decided to use it again. Really love the art on this deck and the pictures speak a thousand words.
The one card in the whole deck that bothers me though and is quite shocking to look at is the 10 of Swords.
I was wondering what anyone who has this deck thinks and how they use this card in reading or just plain what they see when they look at it?
I`d be very interested in hearing some opinions :)
thanks

Hi again,
Does anyone know if or when Norbert Losche`s own book to the Cosmic tarot will or has been published in English?
I`d really love to have it but unfortunately don`t read Spanish which the original is in.

Hi Linda,
I can't help with the book but I can toss in some thoughts about the Cosmic 10 of Swords.
I read with this deck a lot, especially when reading for other people, and I just had it turn up in a reading I did the other day. The card itself has always struck me as rather disturbing and negative, but within the context of a spread (it showed up in an action position) I read it more as sort of death of the mind, a complete destruction of previous ways of thinking. A sort of violent mental housecleaning.
I kind of like the shocking imagery now, it calls more attention to the card. It certainly gave the person I was reading for a lot to think about.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for replying alizarin.
That`s a great way of looking at that card.......a complete destruction of a way of thinking. I think I`ll give that interp a try next time. I`ve always looked at the swords as thoughts and problems and logic and figuring things out so that fits perfectly :)

Linda I have a copy of the book by "Jean Huets" which I believe to be the official book of the Cosmic Tarot. The IBSN is: 0-88079-699-5. Wonderful deck and indeed one of the better (i.e. good!) books.
I think this is one of the decks that REALLY brings out the original meanings of the Thoth minors in (sometimes) their full horror - in this case "Ruin". No messin' about! Mr. Crowley says (Book of Thoth):
"Yet this card is not without hope. The solar influence rules; ruin can never be complete, because disaster is a sthenic disease. As soon as the things are bad enough, one begins to build up again"
What's "sthenic" mean, Dad? Heheh. But my idea is more to accept the (Thoth-alike) cards at face value and concentrate on suggest avoidance/learning from such a situation? ;)

Thanks for the reply Macavity :)
Yes this is a good book. I have it also. But apparently the artist himself has published a book in Spain. I`m sure wishing it was in English.
I like taking those cards at face value...they are "in your face" (as we say here) cards LOL
They did help add to my confusion in the beginning I have to admit when I was first discovering tarot. Not a good idea to try to learn Thoth and Waite for me at the same time...especially without knowing that was what I was attempting to do :)

Hi this is my very first post, although I've been lurking more than six months.
The Cosmic Tarot is actually my 2nd deck, my deck that I want to become proficient in.
In my study of the Tarot, I have made up my own chart of keywords. for the 10 of swords, my meditations have led to positive pole -visionary- negative pole -dogmatism-. I base these interpretations on the following:
No card or suit should be unbalanced towards negative or positive, but contain both.
broadly following numerological theory, 10 cards are a culmination of and a renewal of the cycle -- swords deal with clarity, thought, intellect, principles, and other mental constructs.
I see the figure on the card as being trapped in crystal-- (a hardening of mental construction or dogmatism at its worst)
yet the shards of light are actually breaking through the rigid, brittle, dark shell, and seem to promise lucidity, clarity and vision.

Thanks for your answer Sechat and welcome :). Yes I agree that the 10 wouldn`t only be negative. This card does seem to show less of any positivity than other tens though. But things can really not get any worse and have to get better after this card :)

The swords in this deck definetly relate to the well being of teh mind and its mental constructs. The Grim Reaper of the Death card stands before a sword and crown. The shadow of teh Reaper breaks the sword but not the crown, the shadow of the REapers Staff shatters apart the crown. The Crown also used in this deck quite often as a sign of Royalty and Nobility. The figure in teh 10 of swords is surrounded by various blades of swords but no crown is seen. The burdan of commanality.
