smash85,
there's a whole Forum on here about spreads, you don't need any money just some time to read through them.
Enjoy! XTAX

You can find hundreds of tarot spreads online, just search on the words. A lot of major tarot sites have a section listing spreads also, AND I think there's even a post on one of the boards for where to check around for more. Check out the archives here. Tarot Passages also lists a new spread each month, and archives the old ones so you'd have at least 2 years worth of spreads over on that site alone.

Another way is to make your own spreads - it's not very difficult. Before you start shuffling your cards, think of your question or the reading you want to do. What will you need to know to spread light on the matter? Make positions for each of those areas that you feel you will need to cover, and POOF - you've made yourself a custom-made spread for the specific reading you want to make.
Check out spreads online, and try some out for inspiration on how positions in a spread work out in a reading, and it will be even easier to boil down your question in a number of positions.
AND - a point never mentioned too often: Less very often IS more. You will not necessarily get more information from a 15-card spread, than from a 3-carder - on the contrary, you're more likely to be confused. So, especially in the beginning - stick with fewer cards, try some with more cards, and eventually you will know what you're comfy with.
Me - I started with 3 and 5 card spreads, moved up to big spreads - but am now back at 3-card spreads as my favourites.
Good luck!
