Hello ... I have a question directed to those on the board with knowledge of modern numerology (MN).
I was looking further into using the number meanings from MN as the number keywords for the Ace to Ten of each suit of non-scenic pips. However, MN has number meanings assigned for 1 to 9, 11, and 22 -- but not for 10.
What keywords for the number 10 would you suggest that would be internally with the MN meanings assigned for 1 to 9?
I don't want to cop out and say that 10 means beginnings and endings (by analogy to the 10 Wheel of Fortune card) as that doesn't seem to fit in with the MN meanings for 1 to 9.
To ensure we're on the same page, I'm using Goodwin's book which uses standard MN meanings for 1 to 9 and 11 and 22. Here's a link to meanings which are consistent with MN and are similar to the ones given by Goodwin's:

Thanks in advance for any replies!

Interesting. I have a couple of books (Johann Heyss and Mahavir Tuli) on MN and none of them have meanings for 10, as they say 1+0 = 1 and take the meaning of 10 to be like 1 which is the pioneer, leader, etc
I checked out another Tarot reference book which has mentioned astrology and numerology (nancy garen) and all she's said about 10 be it for the Wheel of Fortune or any of the minor arcana is "Tens are read the same as number 1, they also signify a cyclical rebeginning, and a time when you must come to terms with something you may have avoided in the past"
I've always stuck to that meaning, but would also like to add words like "fulfilment, completion, reflection"
Dont think these keywords fit in with the ones mentioned for 1- 9.
I do know that double digit numbers like 11,22 have significance....if you'd like I can share Heyss's interpretations with you.

Diana ... For the purposes of my question in my original post, "modern numerology" means the system of numerology developed by Mrs. L. Dow Balliett in the early part of the 20th century and refined by Florence Campbell in the 1930s. For more details, see, for example, the following link to a website which provides a lot of information regarding it:

Hi Rusty,
Sandor Konraad, in "Numerology: Key to the Tarot", has this to say: "To paraphrase Shakespeare, the valiant are born many times before their death; the clod tastes life but once. Ten, which is the first compound number, is actually the rebirth of 1. Only this time, 1 is no longer standing alone, but is accompanied by a zero. To some, a zero means nothingness, but as a symbol of the world, it can also mean allness. A zero is a mandala, a primal symbol and perfect figure.
In the Tarot, Arcanum X depicts a mandala of the Wheel of Life and Death and Re-Birth. Capricorn, the tenth sign of the zodiac, is symbolized by the Goat. This sure-footed creature is capable of climbing the highest mountains. But the Goat may be so concerned with getting to the top that he or she keeps his or her eyes only on the earthly path, and fails entirely to see the view of the heavens and the majestic heights.
The 10 has undergone an entire cycle of experience starting with Self (1) and going through the various stages of human development to the All (9). Having become spiritually enlightened as 7 and following involvement with humanity as 9 and rebirth on a highter plane, this person's individuality has been retained and a partnership with the world has been formed.
If unevolved, this number can be interpreted as a 1 rather than a 10 (which is 1 plus 0), and as such, will be a leader and a forceful figure, but more concerned with ego than with the soul.
KEY: AS 1 IS SELF-SEEKING; A 10 IS SELF-AWARE "
Hope this helps.

Ten is indeed a new beginning - but at a higher order or octave.
The number 10 embraces all the other numbers, and so is a number of completeness or the number of the Cosmos.
1 + 2 + 3 + 4 = 10
Which is a point, plus a line, plus a plane or surface (triangle) plus a solid (four). All form is included here.

10
the manifestation of learning how to be independent
1=individual + 0=gifts or protection &/or power
1- control the desired results
10- knowing yes or no before having to deal with any situation how they want to handle it.
1 is the leader, but number 10 tends toward a paternal style in leadership
I always feel 10 is a new beginning, starting a new cycle. We take knowledge that we have learned & apply it the new cycle.
0 intensifies each number. 0 is manifesting ones potential
I know this is not the place but if it helps:
0- merges from 11, 22, 33
perfectly capable of analyzing situations

Thanks, everyone, for your insights on the number 10 and the close correspondence between 10 as higher octave and X Fortune.
Galadrial ... Rather synchronistically I've been thinking of getting the Konraad book you mention.

The number 10, or the denary, is the measure of everything and reduces multiplied numbers to unity. Containing all the numerical and harmonic relations, and all the properties of the numbers that precede it, it concludes the Abacas or Table of Pythagoras. To the Mysterious Societies, this number typified the assemblage of all the wonders of the universe. They expressed it as ‘unity in the middle of Zero’, as the center of a circle, or the symbol of Deity. In this number lies everything that deserves reflection; the center, the ray, and the circumference – represented as God, Man, and the universe.
This number was, among the Sages, a sign of concord, love, and peace. To Masons, it is a sign of union and good faith; because it is expressed by joining two hands. Or the Master’s grip, when the number of fingers gives 10: and was represented bye the Tetractys of Pythagoras.
10 is the most perfect number because it includes unity, which created everything and zero, symbol of matter and chaos, whence everything emerged. In its figures it comprehends the created and uncreated, the commencement and the end, power and force, life and annihilation. By the study of this number, we find the relations of all things; the power of the Creator, the faculties of the creature, the Alpha and Omega of divine knowledge.
