Aces: Too general in the meanings?

In several of the threads I have seen people gripe about not knowing how to interpret Court cards. However, I think those are easy compared to Aces!
I think I understand the concept of "the essence of" or "the raw power of [whatever]" but whenever Aces come up in my readings I don't know how to interpret them.
Usually Aces come up when I ask questions similar to "what does so-and-so think of such-and-such?" This time (using the Ancestral Path Tarot) I asked my roommate's opinion of our relationship and up came the Ace of Sacred Circles (pentacles). The card has a large blue, yellow, and red circle in the middle of a winter landscape, with the north star in the sky, a buffalo, a dead tree, and an Ojibwe drum. I strain my brain but cannot even stretch to come up with a meaning.
How would you interpret this card? How do you interpret your own Aces?
Thanks for your opinion!

Nice insight - yes, there are alot of us who struggle with the courts and yes, the Aces are sometimes just as tough.
They do tend to relate to the absolutes of the suit they represent but I also feel they are a beginning - or the general path of the suit. There is a spark, an innocence, an unknown.
I have the Ancestral Path as well (though not with me, I am away from home presently) so will take a look. I cannot remember the symbolism of the Aces on this deck currently. For some reason, the Arcus Arcanum, a new deck of mine, is coming to mind (Ace-wise) as there seems to be alot happening.
I will take another look at the AP when I get home and hope to comment.

If I understand, you asked the cards about your relationship? Is that right?
Ace of Sacred Circles would indicate that the relationship is still in a raw state (Aces are a raw state), still without direction (Aces have no direction).
The relationship, right now, is based on raw physical attraction (that's the landscape there, very physical, down to earth, the buffalo is food in the winter). Also drumming--the heart beating, the beat behind the soul, that which roots the tribe and holds it together.
Ace of Sacred Circles = Physical, real, earthy. Your heart beats faster, you get the chills when you see each other. Raw, physical reaction.
AND/or that there's raw luck. A buffalo in the winter--lucky! You won't starve, you won't freeze. That first star in the sky--make a wish! Use it for guidance. And there's the tree--firewood! Luck, luck, luck!
Aces, generally speaking indicate newness, rawness. An ace is the seed you plant in the ground. It COULD become a green sprout, then a stalk, then a tree, then bear flowers and finally fruit. Or it could die at any time during that process. Right now it is raw potential. All potential. And that's all you can say about it--the potential is there. What will you do with it?

I think I have a better understanding now.
She abandoned all her old friends before coming to college, and then she met me (dorm roommate), and in an otherwise desolate landscape, I became her comfort (buffalo & firewood) and entertainment (drum). I'm her survival, in a way. It's like her starting over in her life, and she sees our relationship as the start to a life-long friendship.
Input?

I like it! Rings true to me. And thanks for claifying--I was a bit confused as to which relationship you were asking about. I thought maybe you were asking your roommate about some romantic relationship you were in. Now it makes sense.
MUCH more sense. Pentacles is not a great card for a Romantic relationship--but it's very solid for a friendship.
And we'll add that right now, your roommate feels VERY lucky to have you for a friend.
