I just got the Haindl deck and the Reader's Handbook by Rachel Pollack. I was reading along and I noticed a rune on one of the Majors that I didn't understand. On the Tower, it is the rune that looks like a peace sign. The book said this is Yr, or Irr, meaning "wrong." I did some more looking in some books and I think this is also called Eihwaz. I thought Eihwaz referred to the yew tree. I am having trouble making the connection between the yew tree and something being wrong. I admit my knowledge of runes is sketchy at best. Anyone have any insights?

hi janomalee ... I'm curious too. I wonder what sense of the word 'wrong' is meant.
This rune is the rune of protection. The Old English Rune Poem for this rune (the yew tree) includes the passage "it waxes in the water and grimly wounds and reddens ("burns") with blood any man who, in any way, tries to grasp it." (Edred Thorsson translation)
French language author Jean-Paul Ronecker notes as follows:
"The form [of this rune] has been compared to an old German gesture used for conjuring bad luck or malefic spirits. This gesture consist of raising three fingers, palm of the hand turned towards the outside, in the direction of the presumed evil source. " (My translation)

Erm- whot kind of runes are these because I've only seen 24 & none of them have names like that.
