On we go with these threads (3 per week), examining the symbolism in the Majors. What you like and what you don't. What you feel ought to be there...or not.
For this thread, the Emperor! Just answer one or more of the following:
1) What elements from any Emperor card from any deck do you feel BEST symbolize the Emperor? (Example: "I've always loved the Ram symbolism....")
2) What elements common to most Emperor cards in most decks do you really feel are all WRONG for the Emperor? (Example: "I've NEVER understood the ram. Ram's just aren't leaders to me...")
3) What symbol have you always felt was right for the Emperor Card, but you've yet to see it? (Example: "I think he should be on horseback leading an army, not seated on a throne....").
You don't have to answer all the above, but do offer some "why's?" as to what you answer. Why don't you/do you like the ram or, alternately, deer antlers or eagle symbolism? What does it mean that such things feels/doesn't feel like the Emperor to you?

I love the four-square aspect of the Emperor seated on his throne, looking straight at the camera. Emperors should be uncompromising and courageous, and I think this straight on pose best demonstrates those qualities.

1) What elements BEST symbolise this card?- An older man sitting in profile;
- seating in such a way that his limbs indicate the alchemical symbol for Mercury
(triangle over cross);
- with a shield upon which is a 'spread-eagle', whose head is again in profile in the same direction as the main figure;
- the latter holding a staff of sovereignty.
