One Card Readings

If we took one card for an answer and layered the card such as - major or minor - number - elements - colors - people or animals - nature that shows in the pictures - moon & sun - direction facing - top half and bottom half of cards - body positions - and many more 3 cups drawn (for more information) cups & coins go together as do swords and wands ~~~Can we use the 3 of coins to go with the 3 of cups for more positive input to our question?~~~ cups & wands repel as coins and swords ~~~Can we use the 3 of wands to tell what is blocking or causing a negative spot in our life?~~~ Also would you be able to use the card before and after the one that is drawn, as in the past and what you're moving towards? Quick one card readings are o.k. but I wonder how much information you can get out of just the one. Thanks for any ideas.

Hi Ros! I enjoy one card readings. I think the amount of information you get depends more on the type of question than in the analysis of the card itself. Since I usually use one card readings for simple questions: "yes/no", "why..." , "what can I expect" and that sort of stuff, your question brings up interesting points. I like your list of points to analyze in the card. I would add some more: - Active/ Pasive elements. Which one is dominating? - Action or conflict: is it external or internal? - Feelings portrayed: positioning oneself in the place of the character. - If is a minor, relate it to its Major - Bringing together positive and negative sides of the card Never have thought about comparing the card with the others of the same number when these are not in the reading itself. Sounds interesting but is not the way personally i like to go. To me, using the elements in a one card reading would be more like this: im asking about love and getting swords? What does it mean? I know all the suits can relate to any areas, but since its one card reading i would pay attention to that. Say im asking for a new job and get cups, then the action is currently on my emotions and i probably need to arrange something there before I can reach the pentacles, etc. Just my thoughts about this.
