Hi all, I am only quite new to the forum. I've searched through a lot of the older posts and I hope I'm not asking something that has already been discussed. If so, please just let me know. Also, I hope I'm in the right forum to discuss this.
I have read that in some decks, Rider-Waite for example, you can look at each card as having a past, present and future reading within it. Eg. bottom (ground) - the past, middle (action) - the present, top (sky?) - the future. And the opposite if the card is reversed.
Is this true? Does anyone use this method? I use the Robin Wood deck and I've noticed with some cards it does make a lot of sense.
I'd love people's feedback on this one.

I have indeed heard about this. This is refered to as the PPF "Spread" (i.e., each card has it's own past, present, future "spread" in it) and you can find out more info on the PPF here:

Which is our own Bec's wonderful website. She is our local mistress of reversals. Just go down that page a bit and you'll find it.

I sometimes look at the story each card is telling to see the
Situation, Background, and Prospects being suggested by
the different aspects revealed in the images and activities.
Like with the Seven of Wands... what led up to this, and
why is it happening? The prospects would be the future.

the place it falls and read the story as it unfolds. If it is in the past it presents a previous situation. --Tao

If you cannot find the past, present and future on one card, check the card before for the past, and the card next for the future for reference.
Just an idea.
3 of cups- now or the card that was chosen
2 of cups-past
4 of cups-future
