Year Cards - Method of Calculation

I know the standard way of calculating your year card is to add your birth month and day to the current year. So, for example, using my birthday, you get this:
9+14+2004=2027
Then, reducing this number (adding the single digits together: 2+0+2+7), you get 11, which would make Justice my year card. When I calculated this, I could see that. I can see issues of objective balancing in my life this year, although I'm not sure if it's a major theme or not.
But, if you calculate it like this, doing all the reducing first:
1+4=5
2+0+0+4=6
5+6+9=20
Then my year card would be Judgment. Now, Justice fits fairly well, but Judgment fits extremely well. This year's major theme for me seems to be reclamation, which I think would fit with the Judgment card. Also, dealing with issues that I've had for awhile, and trying to dispel them for good, which is also covered by Judgment.
And if you calculate it by simply adding all the digits together:
9+1+4+2+0+0+4=20
It comes out as Judgment then, too.
So, my question is, is the first method definitively the correct method of calculation, or can they all be used? And if they can all be used, how do you know which one to use when? Or do you just feel the influence of both/all the cards you come up with equally?

I believe this to be very maluable- almost person specific in special cases like yours, because you where drawn to look at it the way you did....for me, well, my birthday falls at the very last day of the year....if you figure by year or by birthday year I get something different of course....this overlap is very prominant so far into my observations- as the years go by I will be able to tell more.
What I have noticed is a three card cycle- like the moon & phases.
Each card has it's phase and each card is in a different phase.
for example, this year is a Hanged Man year, last year was Justice, and next year is Death.
But I am experiences all thier energies working together...
In this year- Justice influences are still working strongly- but it's in it's final resolution stages. Two years ago, the situation of Justice that is now ending was just beginning- during the Justice year it was at it's peak and in full swing.
Last year, first phase for the Hanged Man, was connected to the Justice issue as well as creeped into other aspects of life that are now in full swing this year- at the start of this year when I was trying to figure out if I had a Death year of a Hanged Man year- it was hard to figure because I saw influences of both. Looking back at Justice helped to figure out where I really stood.
Looking at the long term of situations I'm dealing with now- I can see how they can lead towards the effects of Death.
The actual 364 days a year is not quite right either- there could be even 4 or 5 stages that spread over a 16 month 'year'.

Calculation should presumably be based on principles of Modern Numerology, but with adaptations to tarot. That is, no reduction of the non-master numbers 10 or 12 to 21, as they correspond to major arcana cards.
Whose method?
For example, using the method of Florence Campbell, a pioneer of Modern Numerology, from her classic book on Modern Numerology, Your Days Are Numbered, copyright 1931, we get the following. Her methods are employed by many of today's numerology authors and would be considered by many numerologists as 'standard'.
Step One: Calculate the 'Universal Year' in 2004
2004 = 2+0+0+4 = 6
Therefore, the Universal Year in 2004 is 6.
Your Universal Year card would be 6 The Lovers.
(In theory, depending on the calendar year, the Universal Year could be 1, 2 , 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11 or 22. However, for tarot purposes, I would presume that the numbers 10, and 12 to 21 would not be reduced further in calculating the Universal Year Card as they correspond to major arcana cards. However, to bring the Personal Year calculations into line with Modern Numerology, you should, for the Personal Year calculations, reduce the Universal Year down as far as possible, e.g., reduce 20 to 2.)
Step Two: Calculate your 'Personal Year' in 2004
Add together:
Month* = 9
Birthday* = 14 = 1+4 = 5
Universal Year* = 6
*= Fully reduced even if a master number
Hence, your Personal Year = 9 + 5 + 6 = 20
Therefore, your Personal Year Card for 2004 is 20 Judgement.
Since 20 is the number of a major arcana card, presumably you wouldn't reduce it to 2. However, if you were calculating your Personal Year for numerology non-tarot purposes, you would reduce it to 2 as 20 is not a 'master number'.
In the result, this method of calculation for your Personal Year card ends up being the same as your second method of calculation.

As I presume that you posted to check your math (rather than to enter again in the 8/11 Justice vs. 8/11 Strength debate), I confirm that, using the formulas in my first post, the math would indeed yield 11 as an answer.
