Hi all,
I wanted to post this because I thought it was kind of fun and interesting.
A couple weeks ago I had my 'new' Tarot of the Northern Spirit with me at a friend's place. Her BF [huge skeptic] and another friend of hers [also a bit of a skeptic] were teasing us about the tarot. I started to explain and said that the pictures are important to the message of the cards and how this deck was new to me so it didn't quite 'speak' to me yet... blah blah blah.
We ended up dealing out the cards and fooling around. Trading cards so each of us could get the 'coolest' hand. Dark themes, crazy kids themes, pretty pictures themes, love... whatever we wanted. When we were finished we each laid our hands on the table to compare our hands and declare a winner. There were no rules about anything, except that we each got 5 cards.
I ended up gaining some insight into my deck, and the skeptics relaxed a bit about the cards.
Perhaps not the most spiritual and meditative way to break in a deck, but it sure was fun to share something with my friends... and have them participate :)

If you enjoyed that, you might also like to get the book Tarot Games by Maura D. Shaw and Cait Johnson. It's a book with over 50 games to play with a deck of Tarot cards: games for kids, for adults, for singles, for couples, for groups... And they do help you get new insights into yourself and the Tarot, as well as having some fun.
Tarot games are now a mainstay of many visits from my other Tarot-loving friends... :D
