i hear of people saying they have guides that help them with readings...
when im doing readings,i always get the persons loved ones, giving me messages for them at the same time as doing the tarot... i dont mind this but i would like my own guide.
i meditate before and after readings, and i dont feel they are being intrusive in readings. could anyone give me advice on this please.
also i have now started what i call tarot dreams, where im giving someone a reading and loved ones talk to me in my sleep, and want me to give messages, but in dreams i feel scared that i cant. like last night i dreamt i was suppose to give a reading to someone and a little boy called alex and violet his nan wanted me to give a tarot reading to a man and i just couldnt.
and i woke up feeling really down and cross with myself as i didnt help, i would be gratful if anyone could help, i do tell the spirits im going to sleep and to be left alone but i feel they are trying to give me a message
any info would be good
thank you xx

It sounds like when you read for client or friend, their loved ones show up with messages for the person. This sounds like as good a situation as any to me since it is for someone else that you are reading.
If the dead are communicating with you, then listen. Don't ignore them because they are not 'yours'. Perhaps your own guide is among them somewhere.
As for your dreams, they sound like stress dreams. If the loved ones of others are on your mind a lot, then you brain will work it out through the dreams. Just write them down in the morning and get on with your day. They will either begin to make more sense later on, or you'll find answers somewhere else.

You definatley are doing meduimship readings. That's what I do too.
You might find that your guide is the one that is "herding" the spirits on the other side. I've seen and felt my guides presence but not so much now. I know that they're there and that they always will be to offer help and assistance. They just tend to move over and "watch" over everything as the reading is taking place. Kinda like they have a job and they work for me but they work on the otherside while I just pass on the message to the sitter here.
If you really want to channell your guides just call on them, they will come if you ask and put the intention out there for it to happen.

Loveinspirit,
You do have your own guides.
Your first step should perhaps be to tell them that you want to work with them.
One of the lovely functions they serve is to filter other spirits that want to communicate with you, upon your instructions.
However, you should know that you are in charge when it comes to spirits communicating with you. It's not "Please, I'm trying to sleep. Can we talk in the morning?"
It's "Alright, people, I'm going to sleep now. Leave me alone, and I'll let you know when I'm back online."

When you begin to open yourself to Their communication and advice, you open the conversation. Without an individual opening this communication, they often do not present themselves in your life (except those "Get Out Of The Way!!" moments that flash in your head and keep you from getting an anvil dropped on it!) ;) So, they will sometimes intervene without being asked, if you are in grave danger. But not always. Sometimes grave danger is what we need, and they know it, so it's not their job to baby you in life, but to help if you Ask Them for it, and to support you in your walkabout on Earth.
Guides speak to most of us on the interior, meditative/prayerful level, which requires we slow down our racing thoughts and quiet ourselves to better Listen.
My sister is the natural medium in our family (sagitarian on the AT boards) and has more experience with Guides that bring over spirits and messages to deliver. She can attest to the fact that if you Tell Your Guides what you want and don't want, in terms of how they communicate with you, They will honor your wishes.

I don't know alot about spirit guides and how they communicate. Can someone tell me whether you physically 'hear' them speaking, or whether you suddenly 'think' something, and thats how they communicate?
Is it different for everyone?

It's probably different for everyone. For me, I hear them much like I hear my own "interior monologue," not as externalized voices. But, when I hear them inside, the quality of what they say and how they speak to me is just a little different... calming and reassuring. When I hear them best, it is much like dream-hearing, but being awake and deeply meditative.

Alissa nailed it: they communicate in many different ways:
Verbally
With pictures
Ideas or information that pops into your head suddenly
An urge, like to to rest and pamper yourself

Thanks for the help.
I shall pay more attention to my thoughts from now on!

Just a word of caution. You have to make sure you're listening right. Don't pass off your own unconscious selfish desires as voices from your guides. This can be tricky b/c they're well, unconscious. Learning to differentiate b/w your guide's voice and a voice saddled w/"the lust for reason" is a very important skill.
Just a few hints: if there is any quality of compulsion or fear, you know it cannot be from your guide. If you begin to think, I can only do x or y, there is no other choice etc. you have to examine the possibility that you are actually in the grips of a psychological complex - and not following the guide.

Guidance from guides usually has a "higher vibration" and a much lighter feel to it, especially in your heart, but also in your general state of being. It literally feels (for me at least!) you have some how gone up to or reached a higher realm where the energy and the state of being is much finer. I guess the way you receive the communications (thoughts, pictures etc) differs from person to person.
I found that when I was literally forced by circumstances to spend quiet time alone and quieten my mind, this sort of thing gets much easier, hence the reason for teachers/masters stressing the need for meditation, I guess! :D
But Isthmus Nekoi is right, you do need to distinguish your normal mass conscious beliefs and thoughts from communication of higher level guides, and i guess meditation and quiet time is very helpful indeed for this.
There are many resources, books, meditations and such on meeting your guides, channeling, receiving info etc.

Hmmm... it sounds tricky...
i have a very overactive imagination...
but would you say that, say, if you were thinking about something, and suddenly you had a thought or compulsion completely unrelated that it might be a guide trying to get through to you?
Thanks again, guys!
