The Eight of Cups indicates a choice -- a major choice that can change a lifetime or one's long-sought goals. It's about having something of substantial emotional value and coming to the realization that it is no longer the right thing to have or to seize.
I've noted often in life that by the time you achieve something that you have worked for that you no longer need it or want it. Striving seems to bring a growing process that launches you beyond your goal or in another direction and at another level. This card is that process of being able to achieve or to have while at the same time recognizing that it is appropriate to leave (even just before the finish line) and move on.
Depending upon your question and the other cards, this is quite a significant final outcome card for the CC spread. Dave.

dadsnook2000 is quite correct--8/cups is a major choice. It can indicate, as well, a lure or a powerful dream or desire (that's the Moon there). This dream or desire might seem a bit crazy, a fantasy or illusion even to the dreamer. But it's very hard to resist. The person will be impelled to leave all he/she loves and knows behind in order to follow it.
This dream/desire might come out of the blue--or seem to--or it might be something that the person has been thinking about for years. A lawyer who's always dreamed of picking up his guitar and going on the road as a singer, for example. The card signals that however long the person has been thinking about this, now is when he/she is going to seriously consider giving into it--perhaps because something has happened to make the dream seem within reach, or that this is the last chance they'll have, or perhaps because they've gone as far as they can go where they are.
But it's not going to be easy. Hard for the dreamer to leave behind whatever he/she's emotionally invested themselves in for so long (family? Friends? A home? A college education?). Hard as well for those involved with the dreamer to let him/her do this "crazy" thing. There might be some harsh words spoken and feelings hurt--depending on what the dreamer wants to do and whether those who love him can let him/her go.
All The card indicates is that decision time has come, between a powerful but insubstantial yearning and a substantial emotional investment.
