Mixing decks to make one deck?

Has anyone ever taken three or four decks, chosen their favourite cards and made a new deck with them? It's kind of wasteful i guess, but it'd make readings interesting.

I've thought of this, though size is always a problem. I wouldn't be willing to chop up several decks to make a mixed one (and I'm not hesitant to trim borders). Too much waste for a doubtful result, I guess.

Once a few years ago, I took my favorite cards from the Universal Waite, the Hudes, and the Connolly, and I think a few others, which all happened to be US Games decks of the same size, and combined them into one deck. I shuffled the cards and did a reading. Then I separated them all out and put them back in their proper decks and never did it again. :laugh: -- Lee

I've often wanted to do that. I did take all the fours out of my Universal Waite and replace them with the fours from my Wheel of Change deck. I had to trim the borders. The only problem is that the backs are different so I am more aware of the fours. I've gotten into the habit of shuffling with my eyes closed. As Vilyariel pointed out, different decks tend to be different sizes, that's the only pain. I have found that having a different deck in there pushes me to think about the fours more openly so that's helpfull. Usually when I am working with something other than and RW, I find myself trying to remeber what the RW image and meaning are. By the way, there was a discussion on this topic this past summer as I recall. Try searching for it. It was pretty interesting Francesca

I haven't done this with different decks but I have put two of the same decks together to see if I would pull one card twice. (like two of the same Aces)

I think the poor cards would get confused all bunched up in a hotel without their families.... don't take me serious tonight folks....I'm on a roll.... :D

I did this before---I just mixed the cards up, never mind if they were of different sizes---and just closed my eyes when picking the cards. I don't know who was more confused when I *tried* to read---me or the cards. Never did it again, obviously :D
