Hi everyone!
I did a reading today with a spread CharmingPixie posted recently - "Map of your life" spread and the only major I got was the High Priestess reversed.
Now, I was quite surprised to see this as I don't use reversals and my cards are always kept upright. However, I did remember that a few days ago I was swirling the cards around (bored I think :) ) and afterwards, I righted them all but it's possible that I missed the HP.
So, do I interprete this reversed HP as reversed or as upright, given that if the card was already reversed in the deck that it couldn't very well right itself?
And for my next question...I've read quite a few threads but I don't have a very clear idea of what the HP reversed would mean. Usually, although I don't use reversals (too young and inexperienced!), I'm aware they can mean the energy of the card is blocked, or moving out of your life or weak but with the HP this doesn't seem to help because she keeps her cards so close to her chest anyway.
If it helps, this card came up in the position of "Home", i.e. home life. I'd appreciate any comments as I'm having difficulty relating the HP to this position, reversed or otherwise.
(As an interesting side note, I got the six of swords in the "Tarot" position - you can name the positions yourself in this spread - and reading Thirteen's descriptions, she mentions a "silent partner, maybe a reference book or internet site". Hmmm.....what could that mean? :D )
Kind regards,
Pip

take the notion that nothing in tarot is random,, and your shuffling the card and making it reversed was meant to be for this purpose of the reading you have done.
i would look at this way, your higherself was watching you shuffling the cards and seen that you would be laying out the card and said she needs the temperance reversed to see that her life is out of balance therefore bring her no peace from which to flow from.
yes ,, keep it reversed and sent the message to your subconcious mind.

Whenever the HPS appears in reverse to me, it usually means that I am somehow blocking myself from the inside. All the answers you need are withing you, but sometimes you have a harder time seeing them. Perhaps you are a victim of fuzzy thinking right now and you need to get some clarity so that you can see things more clearly.
The HPS is also the guardian of secret/sacred knowledge. Is there something going on in your "Home" life that is being kept a secret? Either from you or BY you?

Kinda like The Moon, which she held in her sway, now holds her in its sway.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts on this. I have thought about it too since I posted and came to the conclusion, like HOLMES, that if I believe the cards I draw are meant to be drawn then I should also accept that this reversal was meant to be. So HPS reversed it is then.
I think part of the difficulty I have with this card is that I always think the HPS should stand for some deep, dark esoteric secret knowledge and that's what I was having difficulty relating to "home"...
Rhiannon's "fuzzy thinking" explanation certainly could be at play here - my "home life" is also my "work life" as both me and my husband work from home, consequently the borders between work and free time or work and anything else are non-existent and I'm barely managing to keep up with "home" things - paying bills, keeping the place tidy (yeah, right) and making sure I have enough clothes to wear - yikes!
Umbrae, your elaboration on Rhiannon's point helped a lot. However, it led me to another question - are you saying that the HPS reversed and the Moon upright have the same meaning? I don't think that is what you're saying but would you (or anyone else) mind pointing out any distinction between the two, because now those meanings are fusing in my mind :) Aah, fuzzy thinking....apparently, I just can't get enough!
Many thanks,
Pip
