i've had the new palladini deck for nearly a year now, and i have never seen the tower in a reading, or at any other time (like when ive been sorting them etc).
i had begun to think there wasnt one in there, so i put them all into order. And there it was! sitting in front of me. this was the first time i had ever seen it.
so, have any of you had this happen?

Certainly! It might just be that the Tower is nowhere in your life right now--or it might be the deck. The new palladini--and this is just my, very humble opinion here--seems a deck that doesn't like to offend. By that I mean that it seems a deck that likes to put a polite spin on things.
That might seem an odd thing to say, but decks, to me, have personality. Some decks come across as very blunt, others subtle. I've got one that I swear will ignore the question asked entirely and talk about whatever the querent didn't want to talk about :D
So it's no surprise to me if the New Palladini prefers to keep the Tower away until and unless it's really needed for a real important warning. That may be the character of the deck.

yup i know what you mean about it being polite. sometimes it ignores part of what I ask (which completely throws me bcos I am quite new to tarot) or only tell me the good part of the answer. That is partly why I am wanting the guardian tarot, because it strikes me as being quite brutal and I am not very good at taking subtle hints and seeing behind the "nice" cover from the palladini.

Hey, if you want brutal, get the Hanson Roberts! :) Seriously, it can be very harsh, which is all the more surprising due to it's very pretty appearance. :D

Good thread that, about the tower and the character of decks!
One of the many reasons I like the Mythic is that it doesn't pull its punches. Like Greek myths, really. In all ways, too. It doesn't only deliver the killer blows. If you doubt good news, you'll get it pasted all over a reading until you get sick of all those bloody cups and wands (or pentacles if you're after a pay rise). And then, when it happens, you'll get a "well, do you believe me now?" kind of card. Or if you waste your good luck, it will not let you off lightly. Sometimes I can only take so much of it, actually, much as I love it.
When it comes to the Tower it doesn't overdo its use, but neither does it hide the crash away. After all, Poseidon is not to be taken lightly - but too much of him will finish you off (unless you happen to be karmically linked to Odysseus, in which case, great news, the Tower will love you...and there's a happy home waiting for you after the destruction!).

i find that when i read for myself, the same 20 or so cards will come up all the time. then when i'm reading for others, some cards will pop up that i will swear i've never seen before. of course, i have seen them, but so infrequently that it seems like they are brand-new, like they crawled into my deck in the middle of the night.

Does this happen consistently to you, or do the sets of cards change over time as your circumstances change?
