Any ideas from anyone what the 3 of wands is related to? Book interpretation is that of a new job, deal or new beginning.....this has come up several times along with the 2 of wands flying out of the deck........any interpretations would be much appreciated!

One possible take:
The 3 of Wands/Rods is one of the most energetic cards in the deck, the dynamic energy of the number 3 and the dynamic energy of Fire. Be careful how you use and focus this energy.
Disclaimer: This is based on Fire being the element attributed to the Wands/Rods suit. :)

I've used a couple of different interpretations for the three of wands in the past, but the one I like the best these days is the one from the Tarot of Prague. There's a man standing upright and looking off into the distance as if he's surveying the territory around him, and an ox behind him. The man in the three is carrying the idea formed in the two, but trying to decide where to go with it, and how to put its energies to work. It's a card of energy and exploration, and the beginnings of a plan of action.

As a card to represent the "beginnings of a plan of action", I personally would go with the 2 of Wands (i.e., the passive, reflective energy of the 2, ŕ la the Papesse/High Priestess). The 3 of Wands comes in once there is some idea in place (at least in a rough, preliminary form) as to the plan of action. The plan of action may become clarified in the 3 of Wands stage, with the benefit of experience in the field.

Hi Alice. My Three of Wands means showing others the way, successful partnerships, and power and strength.

3 of wands is a in-gathering of energy, ready for imminent release. It is the stage after the preparation and integration of the two. It can concern the launching of bold projects, inspiration for a piece of art - or an accumulation of sexual power.
If it is advice it is asking you to be bolder, more forward looking, not to repress your sexuality.

I've always seen this card as the ships-coming-in card. That is, the choices you've made, the energy and focus you've put into them, are beginning to have returns. Two of wands is deciding what to put your energy into, as energy is not somthing that you can really successfully split. You put your passion into one thing, go for one goal. Now, in the 3/wands, you begin to see the results of that. A third wand of power is born out of the first two and the energy you spent is returned three fold. The ships you invested in return with riches.
I'm in agreement with the others that this is energy to be used, not horded. It's the beginning of feeling good, powerful, and ready to make what you've started a solid reality. Go for it.
