Reading a deck-reversed or not/Soreads

Hi,

I'm new to Tarot and have a few questions...

A book I bought said when the authors' read the cards, they turn them all upside if reversed. What do you say? I have another book that gives meaning for reversed cards. Also, how do I shuffle the cards so that I don't slant the cards towards being too reversed or not.

Lastly, what deck spread do you suggest for simple yes/no type of answers?

Example: Somebody wants to buy a stock or somebody wants to know if this person would be right for getting involved with a relationship, etc.

I'd appreciate your assistance. I didn't realize how more involved this is until I got into it.

Thanks!!!

Welcome to Aeclectic, hhabana...

If only buying stock was as simple as quick Yes/No answers... let's for a minute ask the question 'Should I invest in this stock right now?' and the answer comes up as a clear 'Yes'.

It is still possible that this will not mean that the stocks will appreciate in value, but that the 'yes' was there for other reasons - such as the opportunities it gives the investor by having lost $50 000 in twenty minutes.

There are a number of spreads that give a clear 'yes/no' reply... but that, again, may be no more than someone answering in the same manner - perhaps some of the reasons, and understanding around the issue, are more important or significant.

To give a 'yes/no' answer, here is one method:
Shuffle the deck. Pull out ONE card. If it is an Ace or the Bateleur/Magician upright , then it's a 'yes'. It it's a 10 or XV the Devil reversed , then it's a 'no'.

As you'll also see here and elsewhere, there are various views as to reading with or without reversed cards, and arguments presented for each.

One way to shuffle the cards to get reversals is to place the cards on a table, spread them out with your hands and mix them around, letting the cards go into all directions, then bringing them back into a neat pile. I hope this makes sense.
