Hi,
This is my 1st posting on this forum and im very exited!! I have the morgan greer deck and the elemantal tarot. Im a semi novice. I want to get the robin wood deck because the guy dancing with the woman on the 4 of wands and the magician look so attractive :o)
This post isnt politically correct. The body is beutiful big or small, unforunately, the norm is to want a slim body. I have many freinds who have gained weight over chrismas who would like to know if they will lose weight. The desired outcome for the speads is weight loss.
My question is: which cards would signify weight gain or weight loss?
Im trhinking that the 9 of cups an outcome card could signify weight gain (too much of a good thing?) but it could also mean weight loss (the wish card).
I would think that most of the cup cards signify gain except for the 5 of cups, spilling of water could signify loss of weight. The empress....hmmm shes confusing, i see her as being the mother archetype, the provider kind of like ceres, this to me means weight gain, then again, she epitomises the sensuality of women, the "perfect" woman so weight loss? The swords and the wands seem active, and penticles seem indulgent yet strong (taurus) it also makes me think of taking care of health (virgo)
Any replies appreciated!!

I've sometimes seen the 10 of Wands in a weight gain situation--carrying more than one's share LOL...

Hi Queenofkingh, welcome!
Asking about weight loss as though it was a gift from on high (don't I wish!) doesn't make me think of which specific card might mean success. I mean it's all about what one swallows and how much one moves.
How about a more general question, like: How can I help myself attain my weight loss goal--say 3 cards--and see what turns up.
A court card could mean the person who helps or sabotages your plan. A major could give clues on determination and method. A 4 of swords could mean "get more sleep" (now thought to be related to weight loss or gain).
I'm looking forward to your posts!

Maybe the root of the weight gain or loss is important.
Being happy and in love could result in weight gain...... or perhaps loss, so how about the Lovers... or better still the 2 of Cups.
The Devil can signify temptation, lack of self control, being lead astray so could also be seen this way.
I think it would depend alot on the others cards in the spread, picking any one card doesn't always give the whole picture.

Thanks,
You have all given me alot to think about. I done a 3 card spread for myself-What can I do to help me lose weight.
I got the Queen of wands, The Devil and the Knight of pentacles.
To me the queen signified a need for me to get more physically active, also for me to eat more heating foods,
the devil, hmmm...a need for me to purge my negativity, to make light of hidden issues that lie underneeth my weight, release psycological bonds? Also i took it to mean dont eat so much!!! (I dont, honest!!) This makes sence adding to what moonbow stated.
The knight of pentacles-Perseverance, slow and steady steps. Is it ok to use the court cards as aspects of oneself isntead of other people? Ive alsways had issue with this when using the tarot to ask about internal issues that do not concern others.
Thanks
Can anyone add to this, critique my

Yes. It's always a challenge to figure out which a court card is--I think the way the question is worded is a big clue as to whether it's you or another.

Looking at these cards from an intuitive point of view, I see the Queen of Wands and the Devil as boosting your metabolism so that you are able to burn more calories. I see the Knight of Pentacles as one means to do this, by beginning a strength routine or increasing the amount of weight training you do.
Which deck are you using? If the Gilded, I definitely see some crunches there in the Devil's abs...LOL

i hope that if anyone does a reading like this and comes up with what seems to be a negative outcome, that it won't discourage anyone from trying! that would be a self-fulfilling prophecy... the cards said i won't lose weight so i won't even try. but then again, if they do say that one will lose the weight, would the person not try as hard? it's quite a quagmire, isn't it???
i agree that the question should really be focused on what needs to be done in order to take off the weight... look for clues as to how to change one's lifestyle and eating habits.
good luck to all, and remember! alcohol is full of empty calories, so take it easy on new year's eve!!! :)

Recently the inverted IX of Pentacles meant "weight gain" for me. But it is more to that... I am a Vegan so the diet I follow is very strict and disciplined. I lost sight of the reasons why I was Vegan and started to eat a lot of junk food. This caused me to gain weight.

I have lost 105 pounds [48 kg] with Weight Watchers. During the summer our regular leader was absent for several weeks due to family problems so we had several substitutes fill in. When a certain leader subbed, the RWS Six of Wands always came up in my daily reading. Four times, without fail. She always made such a fuss about the amount I had lost.
It seems fitting the 6 of W represents my weight loss as the traditional meaning is victory, triumph and acclaim.
