Is it possible to use Tarot to help interpret a dream ?
If so, how would I do it ?
p.s I apologize if this is posted in the wrong section :).

I don't recall where I learned reading into a dream with tarot cards, but here goes :
Divide your dream into segments, i.e. It was morning/evening ..., I saw ...., He was doing ...., I was afraid/happy..., we were ..., I did/n't feel good about ..., I was surprised ...., Someone came in..., and last your feelings during and after the dream.
Now shuffle your deck and pick as many cards as you wish for your dream interpretation, deciding which card stands for what segment/part of the dream. You may want to keep this spread to up to 5 cards for easier understanding of the dream.
I hope this helps ...

Yes, I enjoy using tarot to interpret a dream. I like to lay out one card for each major event of the dream. Why don't you try it and post it in Your Readings, we'll look at it with you.

This was written by a follow Forum memeber I have used it a few times and found it to be a great spread!
Thats the title of the spread
Is it just a dream. . .
I have in recent weeks been encountered with a dilema, is this life i live just a dream, and the conclusion i have drawn: it just may be.
I have designed a spread with this in mind, and i have used several decks with some interesting results that seriously made me think about everything in my life, and well, the fact that it could all be a dream.
..................5
.......3.......1/2.........4
............7.........6
..................8
1. The reality you live in
(is actually)
2. this dream you are having
3. how/why the dream does not wake up
4. how/why does reality not go to sleep
(these are tricky questions to understand, but once you read the cards it makes sense because it is a very personal message)
5. what are the connections between realtiy and the dream
6. symbols of the dream
7. symbols of the reality
(expecte these two cards to be very powerful, espicially the first time)
8. where do the dream and reality merge and divide, begin and end, form and dissolve.
Thats it, i had some very insightful and though provoking readings with this spread. Don't expect it to tell everything though, this is more of a meditative spread on yourself more than anything else.

Hi Feebie & Firemaiden,
Thank you both so much for your help.
It's actually my husbands dream - I'm going to see if he can give me any more details and then I will give a reading a try.
What was really odd was that I had some sort of premonition ( or something) then he had the dream shortly after. I feel somehow that the 2 are related.
Hopefully the cards can give us some insight.
Thank you again !

It's me....again.
I talked to hubby about his dream and he remembers so little of it, I'm unsure what/how to pose my reading questions.
Any ideas ?
Thank you !

LOL. I only have read for dreams I can remember. You could still do a reading though. You can ask the tarot, "what did my hubby dream about?".
You can ask the tarot anything you like. :D

I read somewhere (may have been here) that you should look through the deck and pull out any cards that remind you of your dream, and then use those in your reading.

i recently had the same problem, here is the question's i asked;
1. what was the significance of x
repeated for each signigicant piece
2. what was the dream trying to tell me
3. what do i need to learn
i know this sounds redundent, but it wasn't.
4. who was person x
as there was an unknown person
the dream actually belonged to another person, so this worked fairly well. i just made up questions as i went along, and pulled 3 to 5 cards for each question. on each pull i stopped when the cards told me to. hope this gives you some ideas.

I often have strange dreams that i remember, but struggle to understand. I never thought to use the tarot to help me see things in my dream more clearly. I am going to try all of the above the next time i have a "weird" dream to see if it helps me. What a good job we have so many clever aecletics - what an interesting thread.

Thank you guys again for your very informative replies :).
As soon as I have a quiet moment I am going to try your suggestions and see what I come up with. I feel like either myself or my husband (maybe both) are blocking what the dream truly meant. Hopefully ,the cards will tell.
Have a great day !!

Greetings to all. I recall Gail Fairfields "Choice Centered Tarot" has this process of segmenting the dream and pulling cards for each segment. Rachel Pollack in her book on the Shining Tribe Tarot piggy-backs on this idea and elaborates it a bit. But the idea already expressed by Blue Lotus is the way Faifield does it, I believe. I have used this and found it extremely helpful. I also have used it to "divide into segments" a difficult situation and draw cards for each segment in much the same way. Tarot gives me great insights every time! Peace and blessings.............Michael
