What types of questions and simple spreads can I use to help me develop my psychic abilities?

I've found that simply doing a daily reading has really kicked my intuition into gear. I notice a lot more synchronicities and I've started to know certain things before they happen. I think that handling the tarot daily sends a message to the Universe (or whatever you believe in) that you're listening. You're tuning in and I think that just listening and being open to what comes through is half of psychism anyway.

How about simple 3-card spreads of "situation, advice, outcome" for a specific situation you're dealing with, even as simple as the weather.
Connecting the inquiry with the results (in looking back at the way the reading panned out) starts to raise your awareness of all those signs and synchronicities that passed you by before.

Hi There
I have to agree with Keslynn. I have only been using the tarot since Christmas but lately I have noticed my intuition kicking in in all areas of my life. When someone acts in an irrational certain way all of a sudden I know why. I am noticing with little day-to-day things that a millisecond before they happen I know they are about to. It's as if a door has been opened and slowly stuff is creeping in.
I anticipate as I continue this journey that this will increase.
I think trust is the most important thing here. Trust your intuition. It is there in all of us but has to be listened to.

I don't think any particular spread or activity is necessary, just using the cards to read for others, and for yourself, in fact, just being with the cards, meditating upon them, will probably open doors.
I've been messing with tarot cards for a few years now, without trying to become psychic or anything, so I can't say that much in the way of becoming psychic has really happened, however I have noticed one thing, and this is very strange. I can usually tell which way a car is going to turn off the highway long before they signal. It is helpful, because usually people slow down suddenly and can cause an accident on this little two-lane highway going winding through the wine country and the redwoods to Mendocino.
It's happened to me several times. I'll get this feeling, like a "left" feeling or a "right" feeling, and a little while later, they will do exactly that. I haven't been wrong yet.
Last week, I was trying to figure out when a certain annoying, veeery slow car was going to either pull over to let me pass, or turn off. I got an image of neither left nor right, but of a fork in the road, and them going slightly to the left.
Sure enough, they never turned off the highway until we reached the very end, where the highway joins another bigger highway at a fork intersection, and they took the left fork.
It's the only area of life where I notice the intuition thing coming into play. Maybe there are other areas but I just don't notice it. LOL.
This is a fun thread, thanks.

Nothing is going to 'make your psychic abilities develop' by shaking some bones, mixing common kitchen ingredients together, or dancing naked under a full moon. There is nothing that you can consciously do to 'make' psychic abilities happen. If it was that simple, then everyone would be doing it.
Psychic abilities are inherent in all of us, as are the ability to paint, sing, or cook. Some of us may only be able to paint a garage but not a Rembrant, some sing 'Happy Birthday' but not opera, and some defrost frozen t.v. dinners but not have an Italian restaurant. However, these talents can be improved upon.
You learn to paint by painting; you learn to sing better by singing; you learn to cook better by cooking. You learn to read tarot by reading tarot more often.
I am the first person to claim I am not psychic- in fact, I dodge the designation. Working with Tarot has helped to hone certain visual skills, maybe even 'jump-start' some of them. Working with symbols has an inetesting affect on your brain because you start to analyse symbology without being aware of what you are doing. Will this make you a psychic? No - but it will help you see how things work together, help your intuition kick in, and maybe get a few more brain processes moving along. "Synchronicity" is a wonderful thing when you see it all around you.

Speaking personally, everytime you do the cards, your abilities will develop.
I've spoken about this on other threads, but I find that images/feelings will pop up, sometimes totally unconnected with the cards, when I'm reading.
If you open up and let your intuition flow, wonderfuly things will happen.

I have some clairvoyance I'm just trying to work at it and learn to follow my intuition more. This does sound like a very effective way to practice. Thanks. :) Now I just have to try to find more time to meditate, my 2 kids are always on me. lol (2 yrs and 4 months)

I agree that practicing the tarot will help your intuition. Recording your readings and draws will also help you to learn more and see if you were right.
I do have psychic flashes when I read and often they are confirmed as being correct, which is a nice extra to my reading - not that I know how to read any differently. In the past, I have looked at my reflection and seen the face of a friend seconds before the phone rang - my friend telling me that her father had just been rushed to hospital. I have had many similar situations; I wish I had notes them down to refer to and tie together, but I never did.

Funny that the question asked was about psychic ability - but many answers addressed intuition instead.
I see a real difference betwen psychic gifts (developed or not) and intuition. Everyone is born with intuition and can develop it by learning to trust it (e.g. in reading tarot cards). Very very few of us have genuine psychic abilities. A bit like being born with an amazing singing voice. In both cases they are given, not acquired, but can be trained to dizzying heights.

I agree that all are born with intuition, but I think everyone can develop their psychic ability. I think it flows on from intuition.
I agree though that some people are born with a gift. But I think we can all work at heightening our abilties throughout our lives. Some people's level of attainment will be higher than others, but I think personal circumstances have a huge effect on how far we are able to go. If you have a really busy life, it's difficult to find the time to meditate, for example.
I think the tarot is an excellent tool to use in this sense.

People always say that intuition is the starting point and I found a web site the other day that stated that "psychic abilities" are the way your intuition speaks to you.

I'll agree to differ with that website. :) To me they are different qualities, though they might have a family resemblance.
But that's jsut me - I have no pretensions to become a psychic - any more than I have pretensions to sing the Queen of the Night aria. But I am very interested in enhancing and developing my intuition.
