I didn't see this in the question threads. Its advised not to ask the same deck the same question over and over without any time passing on the issue. Well a friend of mine said once that you can ask the same question in one day but use a different deck/s.
What is your take on this? Do you think by doing this you can see if all decks give you the same answer?

MM ~ Sometimes it is good to do this, and sometimes it is just muddy. You'll know when you're getting mud! I don't personally ask the same question of different Tarot decks in one day, but I will ask Tarot and Sibilla, or Runes and Lenormand, different systems. When you start obsessing too much, the oracle knows somehow and shuts down on you until you can get your head on straight, it seems. Just like bugging a person with the same question over and over. But there is nothing wrong with asking two different systems - it is like asking two friends. BB, Stella

How is asking a different deck the same question really going to be any different than asking the same deck the same question? The pictures are the only thing that's different. You're still obsessing and asking the same question when nothing has changed. A different deck isn't going to change the message. Personally, I've found that the reading will result in a similar message being conveyed with different cards or it'll be jibberish, same as if you use the same deck with the question repeated.
Which leads to the question of why someone would want to do another reading on the same subject. If it's because the person didn't like the answer, then reading again probably isn't going to change it. If it's because the person did like the answer and wants it to happen sooner, then quit reading the cards for now and go make it happen! If you're doing it to "test" the tarot, then I can understand that impulse. Like I said, for me, I've usually gotten the same answer, which is interesting and just reinforces that tarot "works."
There is a technique called Comparative Tarot, in which you lay out a spread and then pull the same cards from another deck (or several other decks). This allows you to compare the nuances of meaning in the cards that you pulled. I have been meaning to try this technique because it sounds potentially very enlightening. However, it is done with all the cards being the same as the original spread you pulled so it's not getting totally different readings.

I have occasionally asked the same question of different decks, especially if I'm unclear about some aspect of the reading. I find this to be useful, as long as I'm not being obsessive. I agree with Stella that the decks give you gibberish if you're being obsessive.
Usually I will use a different spread as well as a different deck, to give me a fresh perspective.
I also usually do this in one sitting, so it's really one reading, just getting as much info as I can from different spreads and different decks. Also, the question probably does change slightly with the different spreads.

MM ~ I just want to clarify, different oracles have different flavors. Tarot might give you a view from a "spiritual advisor", Lenormand might get a bit more down and dirty with "what's going to happen". I don't have a problem using different oracles in conjunction on the same question, particularly if it is a complex issue. I don't do this to see if my package is coming in todays mail, or if my boss will let me have next Friday off. BB, Stella

Funny you should ask. :-) I did that once. That was way back in the days when I only had three decks. I was having a bit of trouble at the time having faith in the results of my Tarot readings (when I was just beginning). I asked for help to learn what I must to have more faith in my readings...
I pulled one card from each deck, put them next to each other and analyzed. There was a central theme running through the three cards, but there were differences too. I found it an interesting study into the psychology of each deck, how each deck gives you the same answer in different forms.
Actually, that little experiment did work out well for me, I would not hesitate to do it again.:-)
