I have read all the posts on how to ask a question, but again i'm terribly confused :| because sometimes i just don't know what questions to ask! Like, the querent sometimes wants to know a "Will i settle abroad?" or a "How many years more will i study?" These questions are a Yes/no or a number kind of question, and i can't think of any way to fix it to make it readable by the tarot cards :|
Also, if the querent asks something like, will i set up my clinic and practise or study further and specialize?? as in an option kinda question, i dont' know what spread to use! Also, if someone asks if they will go abroad and SETTLE there, what kind of cards will suggest that? I know TRAVEL cards, but what else can possibly suggest a shifting of home...
i'm sorry if these questions sound inane, and i hope i'm posting in the right forum for this.
Love,
Ashtoreth.

ashtoreth,
Your questions do not sound inane :)
I usually reformulate the questions into a context of personal growth (as probably most of us do).
If the question is of a "When will I...." type, I do something like "What can I do/change in my life in order for .... to happen as soon as possible?"
If the question is an "either - or" type, I break it up in two or more "what would be the possible consequences / outcome if I did this" questions plus a follow-up if all outcomes are undesireable, about what could be done to solve the situation.
I ask a similar question if it was a "yes - no" kind of question.
Love
Simone

Thank you Simone and LoukezXV , for your insights; I am definitely going to try that yes/no thing although i do have my doubts on yes/no , being an eclectic witch, i agree strongly with the 'future in motion' theory, and although the answer may be a yes, I'm sure every fortune teller will agree with me that YES will be the most PROBABLE thing, albeit not the NECESSARY outcome.
Simone, breaking up the spread into two possible outcomes is a very good idea, something i'd been considering also, but i'm a little new to tarot, i have to work on a spread for that..thanks :)
I'm still trying to work on timing. Like this friend asked me how many years is she going to study (formal studies) and I was rather clueless but i just focussed on her question and i got the 3 of wands, 3 of swords.. and i knew that it would be three years, and when i told her, she was thrilled cause she had been hoping to do a 3 year course and my answer made sense to her:P but I think that's more of a fluke thing, i can't expect a numbered card appearing everytime that'll be so easy to interpret now can i?
hehe look im rambling :P i oughtta stop
Love and light,
Ashtoreth.

Hello Fulgour
I was replying to your post and i kept getting that quote instead of the one you originally wrote ~~ took me a while to figure out that you'd edited it!! Allow me to answer your question nevertheless:
>If I may, please allow me to ask of you, what are some other ways,
>or forms of divination, in India that people apply to for information?
>Numerology seems to be an important consideration for many of my
>clients there, and I think that astrology may also be very influential.
The most common form of divination in India is astrology. Vedic astrology is highly scientific , as well, requiring detailed study , and there are too many astrologers and relatively fewer who are truly scholars in vedic astrology though. Very recently i visited Kerala , a state in south india. And i was really amazed for i got my future told to me in atleast half a dozen ways by the natives there :) I think palmistry and numerology come a close second. There was a temple I'd been to where the priest would break a coconut and tell you your future from the way it cracked!! Cowrie shells is what some people use as well, although it is not as well known..
I could go on and on! :) But I shall stop here. Ask me more Fulgour, and I hope that info helped :D
Love and light,
Ashtoreth.

Namaste Ashtoreth,
I misunderstood when you didn't answer and thought I may have imposed upon your questions with my post, and so I edited out my letter to avoid seeming intrusive, and just put in a comment about answering yes-no questions. It was late last night, or early morning depending, when I posted and so I felt my comments may have been detracting from the intent of your inquiry. Now I must apologise for being hasty and making an unfortunate edit.
Thank you for your very gracious and truly helpful reply.

Hey, Ashtoreth, as pointed out, these questions are not "spread" questions but single card questions. And you've been given great advice on easy ways of answering yes/no. They DO seem a bit strange, however--I mean, does the person *expect* to settle abroad? And why don't they know how many years they're going to be studying?
Also, if the querent asks something like, will i set up my clinic and practise or study further and specialize??
Again, what is the context of this question? Does the person WANT to set up a clinic--or do they want to specialize? Because, frankly, isn't that decision up to them--not "fate"? To ask what's "fated" is to ask "Will I meet a tall, dark, handsome stranger...." not, "Will I specialize...." Presumably, you know if you want to specialize or have the patience to specialize. If you can make that happen.
What the querent seems to be saying here is, "I can't make up my mind which to do...." and the real question is, "Which is better for me? To start in a practice or specialize?" Pretty clear question there, isn't it? If that's what they mean, then a spread can help. A spread can show how each way is likely to go--that is, if this person opens a clinic, how will that go? If they study and specialize, how will that go? The cards will outline the strengths and weakness of each--but it won't tell the person which to do. That's their decision--always. Even the bad ones.
I guess what I'm saying is that it isn't YOU or the Tarot at fault--in this case, the querent hasn't asked a good question. Your job is to grill them a bit, don't let them get away with asking sloppy questions. As the reader, discuss while you shuffle those cards, what it is they're after, what's on their minds, what they really want to know. If the question is clear, then the answer given by the tarot will be easier for you to read.

Hey,
I think a lot of people here in India.. being unfamiliar with the way tarot works- many haven't even heard of it before - So that's probably why I end up getting random questions like that, and I get all worried about what to do with them.
I guess most of the questions rise from: I would LIKE to do this, but will I be able to? Will i have the money/finances/luck to get through and be able to do it? Most people here are believers of destiny, and many things dont' always turn out the way we intend them to, even if it seems like it is likely to happen. I think that is the mindset behind every question asked here.
I know now to ask for more information, and help the querent frame their question properly.
Thanks, Thirteen,
Love and light,
Ashtoreth.
