I keep getting the 4 Swords (Spiral) - it started about 2 days ago just as I was coming to the end of a hectic period at work. The first time I got it, the card could have been me :) - I just wanted to sit down, relax, try and catch up on all the lost sleep. I know the work took alot out of me, I feel mentally drained, even now - so I think this is why I'm still getting it. I'm not getting the cards of isolation like the Hermit.
The woman looks so relaxed in the Four of Swords - that chair looks comfy, and she's fast asleep under a nice blanket. Even her candle has burned out.
Also this deck seems to have given me the significator of the Queen of Wands but the Queen of Swords while I was working, and being all businesslike. :)

Sounds like your readings are pretty accurate!
I agree with MercyMe... why not get some rest (and don't do any work that's not absolutely necessary). From everything you've said... you've earned a break!

The 4 of Swords in the Spiral tarot is just gorgeous. One of my favorite cards from that deck.
Maybe you should get yourself a lovely, snuggly, floral blanket and take some time out.

I think its a lovely card to look at too - usually you get the knight in armour lying on a cold slab - which I probably wouldn't have been able to identify with as quickly - but as soon as I saw this one - I knew it was pointing towards the rest I need - I swear I've done so much figure work these last few weeks, all I'm seeing is numbers, I keep counting and adding stuff up lol - glad its all over now (at least for another year) :)

That's one of my favorite four of swords too...all comfy in the Spiral.
I would think getting that card so often is a warning...and a pretty serious one!
Rest.
Now.
Otherwise the Universe will find a way of making you rest!
Trust me on this one! :D
You don't want a sprained ankle, or a bruised foot, or a stupid head cold!

Oh, I know from sad experience what Chronata is talking about. A few years back I overdid myself in December. I did two kids birthday parties -- and I went ALL out, creative, made both a Lego cake and a Unicorn cake, etc. plus decorating and such for the parties, then decorating and shopping for the holidays, visiting, kids were sick (they always are on their bdays), and I had to take care of them, too. Finally, when we were supposed to go up north to visit my in-laws, my chest hurt really bad the night before we were supposed to leave. By the next morning it was so bad I had to be taken to the hospital. After they checked for a pulmonary embolism, it was determined that I had pleurisy! I really didn't want to go on the trip anyway, and the kids went with their dad so I got a week home alone! Ah...but I felt like crap. :( I got the rest I needed, though.

I have come to the conclusion that I am being stalked by the 4 Swords from the Spiral - I'm getting this card daily - I know I liked the image but not that much lol.
I've just checked the Empowerment Spread I did 2 weeks ago, when I was in the middle of a cold virus and heavy work schedule, and guess which card was first out - yep 4 Swords but that was the Morgan Greer. I switched decks around a week ago to the Spiral and its took me this long to realise that I'm still getting the 4 Swords.
Am i missing something here? Maybe I should do a full spread just to see what the problem is? Or switch back to a deck I know better.

I'm just about to post a reading I've just done with the 'Empowerment Spread' in the 'Your Readings' section. The 4 Swords came up again. Any thoughts/comments would be appreciated.

Hi Emily. I think everyone is right, a rest sounds like it is warranted. But as I interpret it, it might not just be physical rest, but mental and spiritual also. The best way is just to take a few moments sit back from your life situation, and ponder things...this is in itself a rest also...not having to worry about family, work, etc.
Also take a day or two off from your daily readings to let your unconcious 'catch up' from its busy schedule...after all as I see it, it is our unconcious that guides our readings and it is obviously trying to quite profoundly tell you to take it easy.
Just my two cents worth. :)
The four of swords sings out to me from my Druidcraft deck, and considering my busy life right now I'd better take heed myself.
Do well.

Its Friday afternoon here - I've finished work early - Not doing anymore until Monday as I'm having the weekend free. I'm spending the weekend on 'me' time and I'll see how next week goes. :D

In some of my personal readings, the 4 of Swords has struck me as a reflection of some kind of denial on my part--- something I can't see because I'm *psychologically asleep* or shut down to some extent.
That was with the RWS deck. I have not used the Spiral deck, but it seems interesting that you say a candle has gone out in it's 4 of Swords imagery. A candle going out could symbolize losing awareness or inner light of some sort.
Perhaps your work has distracted you from something that's important to you or makes you happy, and you haven't really noticed because you've been so busy?
just some thoughts :)

Thanks for all of your replies - I've just done Elven's Spread - Just about to post it if anyone wants to have a go at it - One of the positions ( 3) is 'Where am I going' - Four of Swords came up - interesting spread all in all.
I'm not going to be using the Spiral for much longer - I'm finding it a pretty strong but negative deck this time round - I don't want to start reading like this, wondering what cards I'm going to get time after time, I feel like this deck is dragging me down. I did the same spread with the RWS and totally different cards came up, cards that actually relect how I feel at the moment.
I'm getting pretty fed up of seeing this Four of Swords day after day.

Have you not wondered if it is not reflecting something in your unconscious you might not be aware of? I had a look at the Spiral scans - the 4 of Swords shows a woman asleep. Could it be you are asleep to what your deck is trying to tell you? It is trying to say something - and you seem not to be listening, so it says it again. It might help you uncover that unconscious element. It could be something ancient. Find what it is, your readings might flow again: and more importantly it could open a locked door in yourself...

Hi Helvetica,
I'm sure its trying to say something too - but I'm not getting it - I've looked at all the different aspects of the 4 of Swords and still don't get what it is trying to say. I have the Spiral book too Quote "This card calls for time to think things through quietly and thoroughly. The sun shining through the window promises solutions." Unquote.
Swords represent thinking patterns, and the Four is paired with the Emperor which is my soul card. I could understand when I first got this card, I was ill, overworked and stressed out but its been weeks now. This card is not reflecting how I feel on any level.
Did you check out the spread I posted - Elvens Lost Spread - I'm still trying to get my head round it lol.
