Hello folks,
This thread comes about from my Tarot Parrot thread. I thought it would be a good idea if we could post and describe the meaning for cards we came up with that are not in the book. This will help new folks and those not so new to tarot to look beyond those meanings. Also give us a few new takes on our cards.
I shall start the thread with the 3 of swords. The book meaning is endings or separations, heartache.
In my deck I see it as a third person playing with a couple relationship. This could be their own kids or family too. In a family reading I sometimes get it is a all for one and one for all card. Everyone pitching in to help. Either in words to get the fighting or coming inbetween them. Can also relate to surgery or hert trouble for medical. It can also be related to the past and not letting go of a pior hurt.
Ok, name your card it can be any card and give your twist on it. If the card is listed but you have another way to look at it don't be shy. There are no wrong answers here. So lets here those not in book interpretations.

Six of Swords - I find this one often comes up during or after break ups.

The Sun- I just recently saw this as lterally meaning the hours of daylight given to us in a day, making the most of those hours and giving attention (light) to even the little things that we often take forgranted. Reversed: letting the day go to waste, losing track of time, an unproductive day.
Ive also been relating The Sun more to youth. The spirit of childhood and giving our children adequate room to explore and celebrate their youth. The other day I recently heard someone say "Youth is wasted on the young," and that struck a chord with me.. So I could also see The Sun as the mature adult seeing things through the eyes of a child, innocent wonder and a playful, carefree stroll through the garden..

I recently saw The Sun as representing someone who thinks they're the center of the universe. (That would be my 12-year-old daughter.) She's going through a really obnoxious phase right now, and literally thinks the entire world revolves around her. Plus, she's a Leo!
Also, twice recently the Page of Pentacles came up as a reminder to a somewhat neglectful mother that she should concentrate on taking better care of her young son. Conversely, the same card showed up reversed in one of my self-readings about my marriage, and I interpreted it as needing to concentrate less on my son and more on my husband. So for me, this Page signifies a child for whom the querent is responsible, and that reponsibility (or lack thereof) is affecting the central issue in some way.
This is good stuff--keep it coming!
Blessings,
Denise

Elysgrl I can relate to your daughter for i am a leo also. I remember those days and still have the I am right you are wrong symdrone sometimes still. At least i catch my self these days.;)
7 of cups book meaning is indecision, fantasizing, delusions.
Usually when I get this card it means you have many routes or paths to choose from. Like many interests but you need to focus on one at a time to get anywhere with them.
I am sure many people here have many differnet definitions for this card.

With every querent I learn more because often a same card comes up with a different meaning to it.
Some examples:
- The sun:
Disturbed childhood
- the four of wands:
Shying away from your everyday life by partying to forget what's realy on your mind:
Not having a stable home situation.
- Ace of wands:
Shows up in readings of new sexual based relationships.
- Two of Cups:
Intercorce.
- 10 of cups:
A house full of memories
- 6 of Cups:
A relationship between two lovers with a big age differents.
- Temperance:
Silence, talking to others in a way they would, not giving your own opinion.
I like this thread:)

Hey, easy on the Leos! :) Very unfair reputation. Great big pussycats really, as long as you stroke the right way! :D (Leo myself!)
I too have read the seven of cups as "too many options" and there has been nothing delusional about them, they are real options and each one is enticing in its own way. I like your point about one at a time Cybercat! I'll have to remember that one.
Like the thread!

Thank You Enchanted. Snowy25 those are some good ones. 4 of wands hits home. Must make special note to self on that one.
With my deck the 7 of swords does not fit the tradition meaning at all. In mine it means success and victory but the way I see it is hauteness a one up on you card. Boasting or showing off what one can do or get away with.
