Has anyone else tried to communicate with a departed loved one thru tarot. at first thought i thought like this guy maybe he was talking to himself, because i beleive in the Bible and like all else i first thought tarot was of the devil and was bad, but that what happens when u beleive what someone tells u and u don't look into something for yourself and use or own mind and get your own opinion. Anyways i was wondering if anyone else has tried to communicate with a departed loved one because my fathers mom died before i was born and i know nothing about her would like to maybe hold a conversation with her, but in the reading maybe ask the tarot somehow is this really the person u are trying to talk to just to be sure. i don't know how i would formulate the whole reading. also i am using the gilded tarot deck, is that a good tarot deck to do this with. sorry if this seems vague i am not brand new but kinda new, just happy to have found a place to ask questions, cause i have so many. thank u all for ur help in advance

Dear Gomab11 ~
You sound as though you're fairly new to the Tarot. If that is the case, this may not be the best or easiest thing to do until you know a little more.
I have used the Tarot to communicate with loved ones and it is very personal and subjective. I woudn't do it if I was very new to Tarot.
Have a look at the other Forums, particularly Your Readings and the Reading Exchange. Looking at other readings is one of the best ways to learn.
Also get to know your deck really well. There are many ways you can do that. I think there may even be a Gilded Deck study group here. Will check for you in a minute.
You can communicate with loved ones who have passed over through prayer and meditation as well.
Welcome to the Forum and best wishes ~

thank u for your many replies, but now i have more questions. you say u can communicate with loved ones thru prayer and meditation how do u do that and how do they talk back to u in dreams or visions what? this is why i like the tarot i have been a beleiver in the Bible for yrs and have read it, but other than getting more of a how does this apply to my life approach that was it. i never got anything from praying either, but being able to ask a question and then have something physically looking at me i feel God is able to communicate with me better thru this method. i can now read the Bible and ask questions about it and get very good feed back. so i was just wondering how u meditate or pray. maybe i was doing it wrong:(

Hi Gomab11 ~
I'm Moongold not Moonbow* (There are alot of "Moons..." around here :) ).
We all pray and meditate differently so I don't think you were doing anything wrong.
I like your idea of God speaking through the Tarot and I think that is true for me as well. How long have you been reading Tarot? The more you know your cards, the better you will hear and see what is being said.
There would be no harm in trying the above spread but the more experienced you are with the cards the more you get from them :)
If you wanted to, you could try this spread and post it in "Your readings". I and others would be able to help you there.
My best wishes ~

You need to find your own way, just like you did with the bible and stuff. And dont confuse the bible with spiritualism...you dont need to be religious or a christian to talk to the other side. you only need common sense and love.
If you wanted to talk to , say, your mother, you talk in your head for a while, just chatting day to day stuff...pay attention to things & feelings, because she will answer you but most people don't notice because they're in too much of a hurry. Once you get more sure of yourself then try the tarot... the only rule I have is "keep it simple". Just talk as if to a person sitting beside you, and one day it will make sense and you will be able to follow a story from the cards. No drama, no demons,no evil--just keep love in your heart & mind and you should be ok...If you ever get a sudden feeling that something's not right then all you do is put the cards down and go to lights & people & noise for a bit to clear your head....that's all. Its like life--common sense and take it slow ! Mary

I have had dreams where my beloved Nana and Grand-maman came back to me and we spent some good times together (generally not all in the same dream!). The next day I sometimes ask Tarot about the dream - but not necessarily to talk to them - I did that in the dream far more satisfactorily! - but to clarify certain parts of the dream.
I would say any Tarot you feel comfortable with can help you with that.
