Obviously I am not a doctor , but when you read; health issues will come up. After Love and Money what is most important to most people? In the specific case i am thinking of it is a cancer and two readers pulled the Hanged Man in separate 3 card full deck readings....has anyone ever associated this card with cancer remission..it seems appropriate enough.

Of course I would refer any querent to a doctor , and not make like I had predicted seen envisioned etc..full recovery. But all things considered Hope is a strong medicine and isnt it a duty to say what you see?

I'd say career and family unless you're grouping them under love and money

yes mike i would group career under money/business and family with love/relationaship...after all we are talking in general :-)

Now what about that Health category?

it is an interesting question ... and the cancer part i've been too well versed on ... but just looking at Thirteen's definition of the Hanged Man:

"With Neptune (or Water) as its planet, the Hanged Man is perhaps the most fascinating card in the deck. It reflects the story of Odin who offered himself as a sacrifice in order to gain knowledge. Hanging from the world tree, wounded by a spear, given no bread or mead, he hung for nine days. On the last day, he saw on the ground runes that had fallen from the tree, understood their meaning, and, coming down, scooped them up for his own. All knowledge is to be found in these runes."

all knowledge sounds like a good thing ... so perhaps like the runes, cancer allows you to clear your spirit, intellect, etc and see things as they are ... or perhaps in their proper perspective ...

Thirteen does go on to say:

"This card signifies a time of insight so deep that, for a moment, nothing but that insight exists. All Tarot readers have such moments when we see, with absolute clarity, the whole picture, the entire message offered by a spread. The Hanged Man symbolizes such moments of suspension between physical and mystical worlds. Such moments don't last, and they usually require some kind of sacrifice. Sacrifice of a belief or perspective, a wish, dream, hope, money, time or even selfhood. In order to gain, you must give. Sometimes you need to sacrifice cherished positions, open yourself to other truths, other perspectives in order to find solutions, in order to bring about change. One thing is certain, whether the insight is great or small, spiritual or mundane, once you have been the Hanged Man you never see things quite the same."

so a parking ticket say is nothing to get miffed about for someone with cancer so to speak -- cancer, esp surviving cancer, would without a doubt make you see things differently forever ...

but telling someone this from a reading? that may be a big leap frankly ... i am fairly new to tarot but i don't think i'd ever have the confidence to tell anyone approaching that area ... you can talk "toward it" or "around it" and perhaps give the querent a sense of what could be but to actually tell them is setting up a ready-made tragedy

are these people in remission? or hoping to be?

interesting subject catti

Cormac-
Yes the querent was in remission and now a different cancer has been diagnosed, and i agree it is a great leap and difficult to approach or talk about. That is the reason for bringing up the idea here. The full set and discussion is over in Your Readings under What?

Um, well health could definitely be one and also travel is a big one like moving, vacation..... I don't know how you would detect cancer in that though. Good luck. Maybe 5 of pentacles next to a very serious card could mean a serious illness?

Thirteen's definitions are here: http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/learn/meanings/

i've found them very clear and very helpful -- a very good resource
