Judgement/Justice

I was puzzled by the Judgement card that appeared in a reading I had lately. None of the keywords really fit-it turned out the picture detail was the key(see Readings). But it made me start searching on Judgement and I read how it can be mixed up with Justice...alot. Now, I think Judgement is a re-birth and Justice is a re-balance. So, could that mean Judgement applies to internal forces and Justice to outside? Does this mean we have more control over judgement than justice? Just curious. Thanks

Hmmm I have never confused these two cards... But let's see. Justice is for me, dealing with consequences (spell?) and understanding how karma works. Judgement is leaving behind old mishaps and stop being sad over old regrets and memories... So yeah, in a way I think you put it well with "So, could that mean Judgement applies to internal forces and Justice to outside?"

Well, if you see the cards the way I see them (other interpretations are of course just as 'right') you'll notice that both are similar in control. Quit smoking (justice) is probably just as hard as stop dwelling over an old partner who cheated (judgement)...

Ummm I'm tired, I hope you understand what I just wrote. ;)

You know, Judgment is just a card that I don't "get". And I do have it confused in some way with Justice, in that when I see Judgment it makes me think of that whole biblical standing before God's throne on the Last Day and getting sentenced to eternal heaven or hell. So it seems like the Big Justice. It's not just a little, everyday justice but the final, for all time decision. Judgment and Justice are both things associated with the legal system.

I keep reading in Tarot books about how Judgment "really means" rebirth or new opportunities and I just don't see how. Maybe it's because I haven't come to terms with the scary version of God I learned as a child, but when I see Judgment, I think it might be the single scariest card of all. Like, "Time's Up! You're going to eternal hell!" I don't get where people see it as anything other than being judged by God and deemed either worthy or unworthy (which is sort of how I see Justice).

More confused than ever.

When I get the Judgement card, I tend to think "uh oh, something I did in the past is about to jump up and bite me in the @ss!" whereas when I get Justice I feel slightly more reassured. Things will be right and true, else I need to make sure things are right and true. Judgement feels like the more Karmic card to me... past actions lead up to the current "exposure" of events, and I guess it depends on whether it's good to be "exposed" or not! Last time I experienced Judgement I had a rough time for a while and rather fittingly, it came at the time of an appraisal - a judgement on my performance. Justice feels good in a spread, like no matter what happens, things will come right. Justice has appeared quite often for me just before receiving news of a job offer.

Not sure if that helps or not, but I can certainly relate to the confusion between the two!

In short...

Justice ~ dealing with concequences, balancing our life,
half way point of a cycle

Judgement ~ letting go of what we hang on to, cleaning out the cobwebs,
near the end of a cycle
