OK, first I have to admit, I am a big nerd. Please feel free to comment on this as the thread (hopefully) progresses. I will not be offended
I was just rummaging through a cupboard, for old things for a costume party, and I came across an old collection of Star Wars themed collector cards from my mis-spent youth. (maybe worth as much as a greenwood by now... }) )
In a fit of silly-ness, I just did a spread using the collectors cards (very tricky actually because it is pretty much a deck of "court" cards, and I've not even used an oracle deck before.
I've heard of folks using all sorts of cards to read. Has anyone ever used collectors cards before?
What types?
How did it go?
Would you do it again?
Tell me I'm not alone! :| :D

Oh, that sounds like such fun! (I think I have some Barbie collectors cards laying around somewhere on my parents attic.)
I suspect it would work a bit like an oracle..
I've not tried it out, but would love to. Maybe I could borrow some pokemon-cards from my sisters stepson and try it out.. Or find those old actor-collector-cards my dad has.. *gleeful grin*

Intuitive readings have their own particular rules,
kind of like how a 10 becomes 8, then 12, but 10.
You want 10 of something, and you get it, but you
give away 2 , so really now your 10 is actually an 8,
so you get 2 more to make up your 10, so that's 12,
but still when you total things up you have your 10.
If you seek an answer, it will be there, but seeing it
may "feel" confusing to you logically, yet there it is.

I just did another reading with the cards, and since they are mostly character cards I tried "relationship" themed spread. It was a very interesting reading, and much better than my first attempt. So I want to add another question now :D
What cards did you use? &
What type of readings were they good for?

Asking:
"Tell me I'm not alone!" I "drew" three "cards" from the list: 212, 492, 211
212 Pink Floyd - Us And Them
492 Santana - Evil Ways
211 Rolling Stones - Angie
The question now becomes: similia ~ what is the answer?

Angie, Angie, when will those clouds all disappear?
Angie, Angie, where will it lead us from here?
With no loving in our souls and no money in our coats
You can't say we're satisfied
But Angie, Angie, you can't say we never tried
Angie, you're beautiful, but ain't it time we said good-bye?
Angie, I still love you, remember all those nights we cried?
All the dreams we held so close seemed to all go up in smoke
Let me whisper in your ear:
Angie, Angie, where will it lead us from here?
Oh, Angie, don't you weep, all your kisses still taste sweet
I hate that sadness in your eyes
But Angie, Angie, ain't it time we said good-bye?
With no loving in our souls and no money in our coats
You can't say we're satisfied
But Angie, I still love you, baby
Ev'rywhere I look I see your eyes
There ain't a woman that comes close to you
Come on Baby, dry your eyes
But Angie, Angie, ain't it good to be alive?
Angie, Angie, they can't say we never tried

I was singing along as I read 'Angie' Lol what stuff sticks in your head from days gone past. I was given some years ago three complete sets of pre 2nd WW cigarette cards. They are about 1 inch x2 inch little water colours of various occupations- coal miner, lawyer, flower seller. All the males have 'go to work' occupations and the females have CARING jobs like nurse and chook feeder, nanny etc. I tried to read with them only once by assigning relatives and friends to occupations and traits- hehe there are ninty cards and I got 'the Organ grinder and Monkey' twice, so I packed them away cos I have not got a clue what that could possibly mean. I think they are just Cigarette Cards and they only mean some good money when my Estate sellls them one day. ~Rosanne

:D Fulgour you are a lot of fun :D
I must admit I don't really know those songs, so I am not really qualified to interpret... (don't hit me please, I was very young when they came out)
From the titles and the lyrics you posted, I'm taking this reading to mean that there are a small group of people who read with collectors cards, many people think we are naughty for doing it and want to kick us out of AT. But they will still love us anyway (from far away it seems) :D
That was fun
I did another reading with my Star Wars cards last night. I am really liking them actually. And fortunately for me they have a bio on the back for each of the characters, so I was able to refresh my memory on the ones I'd forgotten. Callista came up twice! Very interesting for those who know the character....

A friend of mine is expecting a package in the mail,
and so I thought I'd ask the "Rock and Roll Oracle"
what's going on with the delivery...
201, 101, 344
201 Kinks - All Day And All Of The Night
101 Elton John - Daniel
344 America - Sister Golden Hair
Well i tried to make it sunday, but i got so damn depressed
That i set my sights on monday and i got myself undressed
I ain't ready for the altar but i do agree there's times
When a woman sure can be a friend of mine
Well, i keep on thinkin' 'bout you, sister golden hair surprise
And i just can't live without you; can't you see it in my eyes?
I been one poor correspondent, and i been too, too hard to find
But it doesn't mean you ain't been on my mind
Will you meet me in the middle, will you meet me in the air?
Will you love me just a little, just enough to show you care?
Well i tried to fake it, i don't mind sayin', i just can't make it
Well, i keep on thinkin' 'bout you, sister golden hair surprise
And i just can't live without you; can't you see it in my eyes?
Now i been one poor correspondent, and i been too, too hard to find
But it doesn't mean you ain't been on my mind
Will you meet me in the middle, will you meet me in the air?
Will you love me just a little, just enough to show you care?
Well i tried to fake it, i don't mind sayin', i just can't make it
Doo wop doo wop ...

Well nothing could be clearer than calling your package "Daniel". As I pick myself up from the floor laughing fit to die......
Daniel is travelling tonight on a plane
I can see the red tail lights HEADING FOR SPAIN
Oh and I can see Daniel waving goodbye
God it looks like Daniel, must be the clouds in my eyes...But very glad you did'nt call your package....Elvis...

I'm loving this idea. Drew four "cards" about situation, and got a very interesting answer.
This may become my new favorite oracle. :D
I'll probably be using the random number generator a lot more once I can think of some more numbered pools of meaning to draw from. :)

Too bad my older brother's Star Wars collectors cards were destroyed many years back in a play-doh accident. Sounds like they might make a good oracle.
I've looked at other collectible cards for divination but nothing has struck me yet.

MM ~ Well, the way you do that, is, think about it...have you ever seen an organ grinder and monkey? Everyone's watching this darling monkey and putting money in his little cup, but it's actually the man who set the whole thing up and the man who will get the money. Still, it is a lot of fun to hand money to a little spider monkey in a suit. So this shows a kind of "front-man and silent partner" relationship. One person is the "face" that everyone likes and the other is the "brains". Make sense? BTW, the songs I got when I asked about my employment situation were: Another Brick in the Wall Pt. 2, Walk Away, and Down on the Corner. Maybe I need to invest in a monkey! BB, Stella

No, I've never used collector cards for the fear of not being able to interpret them. Just as a question because of where you live, Does it get hotter in the winter and colder in the summer? because of the difference of hemispheres I don't know.

No, it is currently autumn and the weather is getting colder. I do however hear our toilet water spins backwards to yours!! Crazy that :D
I had the same fear about using an oracle. With no crutch to lean on how would I use them?... Turns out it was a lot of fun. It helps to have a set with characters that are familiar to you. I guess I have probably read more about Star Wars than tarot, so I bring that knowledge with me. I would have stuggled if the pictures were of unfamiliar things.

Fulgour! What a great idea - I did the number generator (now I know how the subscriber prize is done) and the rock and roll thing and got:
99 Beatles - Long and Winding Road
The long and winding road
That leads to your door
Will never disappear
I’ve seen that road before
It always leads me her
Lead me to you door
The wild and windy night
That the rain washed away
Has left a pool of tears
Crying for the day
Why leave me standing here
Let me know the way
Many times I’ve been alone
And many times I’ve cried
Any way you’ll never know
The many ways I’ve tried
But still they lead me back
To the long winding road
You left me standing here
A long long time ago
Don’t leave me waiting here
Lead me to your door
But still they lead me back
To the long winding road
You left me standing here
A long long time ago
Don’t leave me waiting here
Lead me to your door
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Haven't a clue what it means but it was great fun:D

This is such a fun thread !
I have not read with collector cards but I did a reading with the LOTR tarot based on movie shots, and that is basically the same thing :D as it does not make sense tarot-wise and the titles on the cards don't disturb me as I can't read Chinese. So I just read the pictures as you would collector cards. I did not read them all as court cards though, but looked at the particular situation that they were in at the moment (hm, to do that I guess you have to know the movies rather well...)
There are lots of LOTR collector cards for sale on ebay and I am now considering some of those and add them to the tarot - that will be different sizes but I will find some way to use both.
And I posted my reading in the Your readings section. And it was fun.
Edited to add:
maybe I will change my mind about this deck if I draw an Orc as my signifier ;)
