Hi Lady -
Do you feel an urge to do the unexpected? Are you "hiding away" your thoughts and ideas from others? Do you feel that someone around you has not been all that honest? Do you fear being robbed?
These are just a few ideas....

The sevens are about overcoming obstacles, not giving up, control.
Swords are about the mind, the intellect and conflict.
Some thoughts on how I see this card
Maybe you have to use your wits to get yourself out of some situation.
Maybe you're in a situation that you're going to have to do lots of research to get through, you'll have to use your mind and your brain to help you.
Controlled use of intellect.
Look for another way to achieve what you want.
The seven shows us a mental challenge.
Look for previously unseen ways to help yourself.
This is also a card about secretiveness and deception.
Are you knowingly or unknowingly deceiving someone (or yourself?)
or going out on your own to sort something out?
Hope that's helped a bit.
Love
Sulis xx

Isn't that the card that shows a thief? I find it meaning trickery. Or doing something behind someone's back. I don't find it meaning overcoming obstacles. I also see it as not knowing what is going on.

Sometimes for me the 7 of Swords is about using diplomacy rather than a head-on approach. I think of it as the "Coyote-power" card. Coyotes pick their battles, and will use stealth and patience over a frontal attack. They are great survivors and providers for their families, though, and they manage to exist in a wide variety of habitats, including urban areas. To me, the approach is the opposite of the Knight of Swords, who draws the blade and runs full-out down the hill into battle, maybe to get his fool head bashed in. ;)

I had it come up in readings repeatedly for this one guy I met online. It turned out that he had sent me photos of someone else and claimed them to be his own. He fessed up to it before we ever met and we never did end up meeting after all.

I find this card can mean so many things depending upon the context. You might try to throw an elaboration spread of some kind and see if you can find out what lessons you're supposed to learn from it. There's a couple of very good ones if you check the thread on "your spreads".
Some thoughts:
First and foremost, if it's coming up in dailies or personal readings, are you being honest with yourself these days? Sometimes this card seems to be about tricking ourselves as much as being tricked by someone else. I also think deception can be really subtle, especially self-deception. Sometimes we are overlooking something very important because we're paying too much attention to something else. I think this card shows up when that is happening because we don't want to face up to the first something.
Also, as some of the others have said, it can definitely be an indicator that there's a thief, or a trickster, somewhere around you. Someone isn't being honest with you or deceiving you -- either consciously or unconsciously. Because it's swords, I find it is almost always the sort of deception that happens with words rather than, say, someone stealing your money...
Just a couple of thoughts off the top of my head.

I was out of town and just got home last night so it they had the phone about 48 hrs before I found out and had it shut off !
