Hi,
I was looking at the DruidCraft today in my local new age shop.
The cards are really lovely. I liked most of them- they had an open deck so I quickly looked at all the cards.
I have no intention of buying any more decks- but wanted to look through the cards, as I have read so much about them on here.
One thing which would definitely put me off buying them (if I was going to) is the size- I just wouldn't be able to shuffle them. I'm afraid I'm not a "spread your deck on a table and swirl it around" person- I like to "traditionally" shuffle my decks.
Just wondered how others manage???
Regards,
Ian
PS: I also thought the 7 of cups was a little "weak". It was the one card that stood out as I looked through.

I shuffle my DruidCraft deck by using the third technique listed here: http://www.learntarot.com/shuffle.htm .
Another method I use is to "deal" three or four piles of cards face down. I alter the order in which I place the cards in the piles, and when I'm done, I gather the piles back into one stack.
Hope that helps.

Sounds interesting- I may have to try that one with my large Thoth!
Many thanks

I couldn't shuffle my DruidCraft either so I cut the white borders off. It's the perfect size for shuffling now; just slightly bigger than the standard sized RWS.
I think it looks better too.
I agree with you about the 7 of Cups - it is a bit weak. I think it's missing the contents of the cups, they're empty and I think some of the card's meaning is lost because of this. It's one of the very few 'weak' cards in there though.
Love
Sulis xx

I've also cut the white borders off mine, like Sulis, but I still can't shuffle them the way I normally would! I've been shuffling them vertically, short edge over short edge and I think I'm finally getting better at it - a lot of cards have fallen on the floor in the meantime! However, I do like the size of it...I think if I were to ever make my own tarot deck (which I often daydream about doing) I would use large cards. After I trimmed the borders off my Crystal and Thoth decks, the cards seem almost too small (but much prettier).

Hi IDN,
I have small hands and can't shuffle the DruidCraft like I do my other standard decks so I shuffle them top over top. I don't like to swirl shuffle either.
Once you have the knack of it, its an easy shuffle to do. I used to not buy decks that I thought were to big for my hands but now I don't worry about it. :)

hi Ian!
Like Sulis, I had to trim my deck, partly because it was too large to shuffle properly (traditionalist like yourself!)and partly so it will fit into my bag better. Its my main reading deck, the one I shuffle as I watch tv, its my friend.
The 7 of cups I dont find that weak.. I see the dude as he falls into deep meditation, maybe from looking deep within the pool. He is unsure of his dreams and desires so he seeks them out. He knows they will be in the grand pool of the unconscious, they are all muddled and mixed up in the cauldron of Annwn. When the time is right he will realise his dreams and what he seeks, and gradually they will take form and shape to become part of reality. There's an element of fantasy, an element of wishful thinking and chasing things that will never become reality, but we need to have dreams to keep us going, to keep us inspired and skip all over the many wheels of life.
Hope that gave you another perspective on the card :)
